  • Jeep Cherokee 4l, 1993 - Not starting and stalling 28 Jan 2011 (Forum)
My Jeep runs on both Petrol and LPG. Sometimes she fires up fine on either fuel and purrs like a kitten. Turn her off and she will just not start. Leave it for a few hours and she starts again. So frustrating. Twice had to be recovered.

  • ex police or ex council???? 17 Aug 2009 (Forum)
i would like an ex bt one as i know how very well they are looked after and they are quite low milage BUT they only have the 85hp diesel, sluggish and noisy. then i saw people are selling ex cop and council 2.3 dual fuel petrol/lpg. my dilema is do i: get an ex plod one that has been lugging mutts around and used as a mobile battering ram with 120,000 on the clock for under 3K? OR do i get an ex council one with 40K on the clock for an extra grand?
  • Can't understand why 5 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Reading a lot of the posts, everybody seems to drives a petrol or diesel car...thats all there is i hear you say apart from the Toyota Prius... I do laugh quietly to myself when i fill my car up with LPG...full tank 47 litres...£20....300 miles on a run 0.429p per litre......do you do high milage ?...it's a longer service interval, less wear on the engine....quieter than a normal petrol car, less pollutig then a petrol or diesel and lower car tax....whats the disadvantage ???....
  • please choose me a bike carrying vehicle 9 Aug 2006 (Forum)

  • Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Envoy auto (2000/W) 5 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Have had a look at HJ's renowned CBCB entries for the range but would be interested in any additional feedback - especially with regard to: what to look out for, potential problems etc. Also when we enquired about insurance it came up, apparently, as LPG enabled but the details on the net don't meniton this. Speaking as a layman when it comes to cars, any advice/feedback would be most gratefully received! Cheers.
  • SuperChips - Have you used or heard of? 28 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Basically what they do is re-program your ECU to improve performance etc. NB: I have a dual fuel Vectra which simply doesn't run quite as smoothly when running on LPG compared to petrol (new plugs and leads helped a bit but didn't completely resolve the problems), I'm thinking of trying these guys to iron out the problem further. What I'd like to hear are any stories good or bad regarding the company and whether anyone has any advise as to whether this is a good way to resolve the problem (NB: it's gonna cost around £300 so if you think it's a bad idea please shout), John B
  • Motor May 13th 1972 8 Jan 2002 (Forum)
BMW 2002Tii's were winning the production car classes which included Z28 Camaros and Citroen SM's. There was talk about the excise duty rate on LPG for car use, an LPG conversion cost was about £175. Adverts included Kenlowe fans, Cosmic wheels (with the completely naked girl on the car bonnet!), Hilka spanners, Ellard garage doors, Locking wheel nuts and bargain Russian radios at £9.95 from "Shoppertunities" in Uxbridge Road.
  • What Car 3K Max? 9 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Hi all, i'm looking for help on finding a different car to what i have, i currently drive a 1998 Peugeot 306 D Turbo S, 45MPG but is too small and i want something with a bit more power but that does not eat up the MPG and simlar to what i get now I'm haveing a nighmare, i would like a MG ZT CDti Auto (no DMF & clutch issues to worry about) , but finding one with resonable milage and good condition seems very hard if not impossible), so i turned to a MG ZT 190 with LPG, but insurance is near enough nearly a 1K! (i'm 27, 4 years NCB 3 points TS10) for that car and they tend to be bit older! So i need suggestions what else to look for, driveing me insane! Thanks
  • what's it worth ? 18 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Would appreciate some opinions on the expected sale value of a minor company asset, that's hardly been used over the past 12 months ; 1996 Nissan Patrol LWB GX 4.2 Petrol Auto ( 6 cyl ) , fitted with a working LPG conversion. The number plate is - apparently - worth a grand and will be included. This car has been owned by us since 1998 and the mileage of 98000 is warranted. The MOT expires in Jan but i'll expect to stick one on to help matters.
  • Land Rover Discovery (1989 - 1998) - 97 3.9 ignition problem 11 Jul 2008 (Forum)

  • Morrisons - fuel prices increased today 7 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Shell etc are currently cheaper to fill up at - well, they won't be this time tomorrow will they? LPG has increased by 4p whilst everything thing else has gone up by 2p per litre. How can they justify this? Is this a Government price increase or corporate greed? On top of that, the free air and water (yes, water) has been replaced by a machine that you now have to pay 20p to use - unless your purchase of fuel is over £15 The car wash is now £2.50 for the basic wash.

  • Nissan Micra Idling Badly and Stalling 23 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Hello I have a 998 cc Nissan Micra, year 2000 (W reg). It is converted to LPG so it is bi-fuel. In the last couple of weeks it has started stalling, particularly when starting up and slowing down and we don't know what the problem is. We had the distributor replaced as we initially thought it was the ignition coil.
  • V70 or Mondeo tdci 23 Nov 2006 (Forum)
In recent times diesel is slightly more expensive that petrol plus diesel servicing is a lot shorter than the petrol . I was thinking in the not to distant future to maybe do a lpg conversion on the Volvo . Guys what would you all do . My Mondeo has done 72,000 miles and allready feels like a bag of nails , the Volvo in question has done 80 odd thousand miles and feel so much tighter and solid .
  • Toyota Carina E 2.0i problem 3 Mar 2005 (Forum)
I have a toyota carina 2.0, 1992 and J registration. It has 30,000 miles on the clock. I was driving from London to Brighton on gas (lpg) and it behaved well all the way home. However, whilst accelerating hard (3000 rpm) up the last stretch of hill after the end of the A23, I depressed the accelerator and the car stalled. I stopped the car (going up hill) and tried restarting it.
  • Somebody stop me, please 2 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Could someone please talk me out of this before I sell the V8 Land Rover and buy the Bedford. It has a 4 litre petrol engine and probably does about 5 mpg, but I keep thinking about LPG conversions. Seriously, does anyone know anything about these beasts? I have always wanted one since I was about ten years old - something to do with growing up on military bases I suspect. This vehicle is claimed to be tax exempt (fair enough) but also MOT exempt - how does that work then?
