Top spot in this year’s Mille Miglia was taken by Alfa Romeo – 90 years after the Italian carmaker’s first triumph in 1928. Taking the chequered flag at this year’s event was car number 85 - an Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 GS Testa Fissa crewed by Tonconogy-Ruffini. In second place was a 6C 1500 Super Sport dating from 1928 with coachwork by Stabilimenti Farina. An official car from the FCA Heritage collection, it normally spends its days on display at the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo. -
Audi Quattro smashes auction record 28 Sep 2017 (News)
A low-mileage 1991 Audi Quattro Turbo 20v broke the auction record when it sold for £72,050 at Classic Car Auctions' September Sale. The car, which was in original condition, had covered 32,233 miles from new and been with its current owner for 13 years. It went under the hammer at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on 23 September. -

Police warn of dangerous fake airbags sold on eBay 19 Feb 2016 (News)
The City of London Police’s Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) has arrested a man as part of an investigation into counterfeit airbags, which are being sold to the public online. The airbag and airbag covers are described as “potentially dangerous”. 680 people who are believed to have purchased the airbags have been alerted by the police and have been advised to visit their local dealership to have their cars checked over. -

A Grand Monday: Mini Mayfair 16 Jun 2014 (News)
Tinted glass was fitted as standard on the Mayfair and it also features a stereo radio cassette – although you’ll have to raid the local charity shop to find any music to play on it. This particular car is being sold with a full 12 month MoT and six months tax. According to the seller, it has been used daily for the past three years and has covered 67,500 miles. Admittedly, it’s difficult to judge a car on a few online pictures, but this Mini Mayfair looks quite smart for £1000 and we’d be tempted to investigate if we were in the market for a cheap, useable classic car. Video: Clancy and Octavia vRS in car versus cycle hillclimb challenge 18 Sep 2013 (News)
Covering a section of the Southern Borders Loop, part of the Tour of Britain stage one route, the race was held on a short, but brutally steep hillclimb with five major corners. Ed Clancy raced downhill from a rolling start whilst the Skoda Octavia vRS raced uphill from a standing start. -
