  • Can i drive another car? 13 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I have purchased a new insurance policy and it allows me to drive other cars with the owners permission with third party cover. If i was to buy a second car and only use it in emergencies would i be insured to drive it or has that car got to be insured too?
  • Not declaring mods to insurers 24 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Quotes for insurabce from Admiral include the proviso: " The Motor Policy does not cover any non standard parts (Modifications). Manufacturers optional extras are only covered if they have been declared and we have agreed to cover them. ' As Rattle pointed out in the general forum that includes car mats which are categorised as 'interior decorative changes'.
  • Audi TT - Motoring legal protection 8 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I was wondering if some of you might be able to help.  I was looking through car insurance for my mother and noticed that the legal cover costs between £25 to £40. Is it really worth having it, I recall reading from on MoneySavingExpert that ideally its better to go for a cover that costs £10-£20.

  • Quantifying the value of a warranty on a used car. 30 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Specifically it appears that warranties can be summarized as covering anything which can be classed as a "manufacturors defect", whereas pretty much anything that is likely to go wrong would class as "wear and tear" or "driver error", and thus not be covered by the warranty.

  • Warranty woes - I need legal advice! 16 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Hi, I need some legal advice! I bought a car from a dealer at the beginning of October, and was told the car came with a six month "Silver" plan warranty from Motorcare Warranties. I was offered the option to upgrade the warranty by the salesman at the time of purchase.

I bought a 2012 62 Volkswagen Passat 1.6 TDI S Bluemotion from Car Giant back in September 2015. Seemed a very good deal at the time and i even went a 1 year warranty with the AA through Car Giant for what they assured me was able to cover everything (a few lies put in there).

  • Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 1998 X18XE engine - changing cam sensor 1 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I opened up the Haynes manual to see how easy it would be to change it myself. I've removed the air filter housing but then Haynes and our car seem to differ. Haynes says to unbolt the top timing belt cover and then I should be able to see the sensor. Looking at the car the 1 bolt I can see is partially obscured by a large emgine mount bracket.
  • Comprehensive cheaper thean 3rd PartyF&T 6 Feb 2007 (Forum)
It is renewal time - as usual I have trawled the web and come up with an odd quote. My car insurance that is up for renewal is 8 yrs old and although I have Comp Ins I dabbled with the idea of 3rd party. Same Company for all 3 prices Comp - Self & Wife - £200 excess Premium = £220 3rd Party F&T Self & Wife Premium £196 Comp -Self & Wife - £1,000 excess £166 Taking a large excess might not be advisable but it is Comprehensive it gives more cover than 3rd party e.g. winscreen cover, hire car in event of an accident etc etc and costs £30 less than 3rd party F&T.
  • Micra - advice needed! 20 Oct 2003 (Forum)
They swapped one tyre for the spare - fair enough, but I've taken it back to be re-aligned twice and the car still vibrates at over 60mph. This hasn't happened before. They tried to charge me for multiple unnecessary jobs - including £4 for air freshener. I'd had the car looked at briefly beforehand by an off-duty RAC bloke, and he noticed that the cover of the catalytic converter was worn.

  • Please help- MOT negligence? 6 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Luckily it wasn't a busy street otherwise I wouldn't be here now. RAC and mechanic told me my car should have never passed an Mot. Car has badly corroded rear arms, which snapped and caused the rear axle failure, repairs cost £ 800-900 . Now, on my MOT advisories it says: Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material Nearside Rear [1.1.11 (c)] and Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material Offside Rear [1.1.11 (c)].
  • Ins Co gives back £20 Admin Fee for Policy Change 18 Oct 2007 (Forum)

I wrote a 1 page letter as I was aggrieved at Esure charging me more (I have been with them 5 yrs x 2 cars and no claims) than a New Policy holder - offered me my £20.00 back today.
