  • Abs and handbrake light 10 Nov 2020 (Forum)
So my OH jacks him up at the weekend takes the drums off and replaces new shoes and spring kit as he noticed the clips on the old one were broke and thought this could have been making the noise. Anyone who has had the sheer joy of owning the old focuses will know that any job requires the good old trusty hammer, after much bashing to get the drum back on we figure we are good to go.

  • Daihatsu Charade - Cambelt change / dealers implications on 5 yr old 16 Nov 2010 (Forum)
(I do not believe the dealer intentionally mislead me).  I do feel I paid (slightly) over the top for the car but was 'sold' on the reliability of a small dealer and full 6 month warranty but I don't feel like spending more now.   Have I got a case against the dealer who sold me the car.

Have I got a case against the dealer who sold me the car.  Indeed should I worry as the car has only done 25K and cambelts don't deteriorate with age (his argument, not mine).

  • Car by Car Breakdown 27 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Is it that the qualities of each of these cars outweighs their faults? Or are the faults in reality limited to a small number of cars, with general reliability being pretty good? Due to experiences in my Dad\'s old Renaults and Citroens as a kid, I have a phobia about unreliable cars.

so if all goes to plan I will have a newer car soon. Only one insurance policy so the old one will have to be uninsured - I have off-road space for it. This also means I need to declare SORN on it to avoid trouble - this stuffs up a plan to keep it taxed and buy short-term insurance if anyone is interested.
  • Citroen AX (1987 -1997) - 1989 1.1 RE, trouble with front brakes 16 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I wonder if anybody can give me some hints. Reliable old AX11 that always starts well and runs well. Has been a cheap car to run and not much has gone wrong. Recently when braking sharply the N/S front wheel seems to lock up but the car does not pull to N/S when applying the brakes.
