  • Peugeot Ad 17 Mar 2005 (Forum)
SWMBO is fascinated by the song and singer on the current Peugeot ad (the one where people are apparently ashamed of the car they've got). Final scene where a guy drives into a corn field. Who's the singer and what's the song please?
  • World's highest road bridge opens.... 21 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Full details here.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4091813.stm The drive down would be worth it, even if it as just to see the bridge - an amazing feat of engineering.

  • Swearing In Posts? 28 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Why are people censored so much when posting with regards to swearing? It tends to be an everyday part of life and as this site is used by people old enough to drive, have sex and vote whats the problem with swear words? Just wondering ;).....
  • European Autotrader?? 20 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Does anyone know of any Dutch, German or French car site similar to our own AutoTrader. I shall be in the market for a Left Hand Drive Discovery in the near future and would find and web site addresses invaluable.
  • Seat Quality 21 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Driving 50,000 miles a year I need good seats, currently Saab they are excellent, what other seats are good out there as I will need to change shortly and Saabs seem to be artificially holding prices of thier cars up.
  • Nigeria! 10 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I'm off to Lagos next Tuesday, on business. Apparently their roads and driving make ours seem quite civilised! I'll keep the Back Room posted as to the developments - and also see if I can get some exotic snaps!
  • 2.2DTR Zafira not available after all 3 Aug 2002 (Forum)
The 2.2DTR Zafira, advertised by "Showroom4cars" on Honestjohn's website is not available in right-hand drive as Opel aren't making any in RHD because it isn't physically possible. Are Internet bargains real?
  • Heated front screens 3 May 2002 (Forum)
Ford offer a heated front screen on many of their cars. We have a Fiesta with this option and it is very useful for winter driving. Does anyone know if any other manufacturers offer a similar option? Thanks.
  • petrol over diesel 24 Nov 2000 (Forum)
As I drive about 10000 miles a year, is a 1.6 petrol car a better bet than a 1.9 diesel. How many miles before the extra cost of diesel fuel/car cost made up?
  • Toyota Prius not rubbish to drive shock! 30 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Plus, with the screen and the electric mode there is an incentive even for someone as pathologically lead footed as me to drive economically. Apart from the apparent economy benefits, I can?t help feeling that Toyota is underselling the hybrid concept by marketing it to tree huggers. There are so few cars that offer a genuinely different driving experience these days.
  • Driving in Kuwait 25 Aug 2006 (Forum)
And this would never do. Such opportunities must be reserved for Natives. So what do the immigrants drive? They drive the smaller, lighter, older vehicles that make up such weird wrecked sculptures. Taxi-drivers, overwhelmingly immigrants, are not generally permitted any vehicle larger than a modest saloon.
  • Nissan Micra - BIG problem with my Nissan Micra losing power 22 Feb 2017 (Forum)
The car actually passed its MOT last week as well, needing only a headlight bulb, so that didn't flag up any problems so I am totally at a loss, I seriously darent drive it on the motorway until it's fixed and this is a big problem to me. Has anyone had a similar problem with a Micra? Any help would be awesome as having a car is essential right now. One other thing I have tried is turning the ignition on and off whilst driving down my road, I was told this may re-set the engine management or something but it hasn't solved problem.
  • 2008 Ceed Diesel Estate CRDi 113 - Warranty 20 Oct 2013 (Forum)
I was due to drive to Italy on 12th for two weeks holiday but that appeared improbable as the garage would need to order parts and schedule the work (1 whole day apparently) assuming it was agreed to be 'a Warranty job'.
  • Renault Clio dynamique Tom Tom 5 door - excessive steering vibration over rumble strips 14 Jan 2013 (Forum)
They replaced it and after 3 days the car was brought back to the house and immediately on driving it even on a smooth road I could tell that it was now like 'driving a new car'.....which it was really.....!!...rumble strips are now traversed as per our CLK and ML......so the rule is persist if you truly believe that there is something wrong with your new car and insist on a second opinion.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 00 1.8 Zetec -re-fitting speed sensor problems 31 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Well £180 to take the gearbox off and on and they would have to send it off to a specialist to strip it down find the metal fault and fix (£200,£300???????) or drive it how it is. Well I don?t have that kind of money so the answer was drive it how it is. I went to pick up the car and he took me to show me another gearbox and explain what is the problem?ALARM BELLS STARTED RINGING?..
  • Steering 27 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I can see why people believe it; on a superficial level, it makes sense; however, it's quite bogus. The "wisdom" is; On a front wheel drive car, the front wheels do more work because they are both steering and driving This is, despite being so deeply ingrained as received wisdom, utter nonsense. To expose this as the bunkum it is, consider a car with a 50 / 50 weight distribution going round a corner at reasonable speed, and with neutral throttle.
