  The standard radio fitted to some new Mazdas is supplied free of a security code and the owner can code it if he wishes. If the radio is left uncoded and the battery is disconnected (which will happen sooner or later in any vehicle's life) the radio becomes locked up with an UNKNOWN security code. Mazda France have confirmed this and the only known solution is to ...fit a new radio!!!

  I have tried changing the plugs and coil pack but to no avail. The tank has plenty of fuel and the battery is well charged. Sometimes it will start on the first turn but often it may take five or ten minutes of constant turning on and off before it fires up. Once going, the engine runs very well with no noises or misfiring.

  They weren't repairing in that area but I guess will have played with wires, and probably diconnected the battery etc (though I didn't have to put hte codes back in the radio)

  It was angled so it blocked the lanes between both sets of pumps. I thought this was very unusual, buit then I was told it could not move it as it had a flat battery. What other unusual things have you seen happening on a forecourt? -- Roger I read frequently, but only post when I have something useful to say.

  Hi Our Clio suffered a flat battery yesterday which has now been re-charged but the car will not now start. The engine turn freely for 1- 3 seconds before starter cuts out (immobilisor i suspect). How do I go about de-activiting this to allow the engine to start - is there a special system or must it go to the dealership for re-programming?

  I've got a Volvo 240SE fitted with a Volvo TD-603 Radio Cassette player. Problem is that the battery was disconnected; and now the Radio Cassette needs the 4-digit security code to allow it to operate. I haven't got the security code, I've checked all the manuals I got with the car and I can't find it anywhere.

  Checked sidelight beams yesterday, they're very brown. Problem with dipped beam especially not putting out a lot of light. Alternator is OK. Battery is original and OK. No faults I'm aware of and the car went straight through the MOT test last week. Anyone ideas?? should I fit replacement bulbs??

  Have a Nissan Micra, P Reg, approx 49K miles. Last day or so, been having trouble starting it. Had a new battery fitted last week,so I don't think it's that. The engine won't even turn over, there's nothing happening when the key turns, after a few goes, it eventually start and the electric clock resets itself.

  i have a nissan primera 1996 m reg the remote for the central locking and immobilizer deactivation only works part of the time, no previous problems with the remote have changed the batterys still same problem central locking will operate on the key but that leaves me in the car pressing the unlock button on my remote untill the immobilizer deactivates sometimes this takes 4-5 minutes i know theres a problem but i dont know what please anyone help me

  Hi everyone. Just changed the batteries on my key for a P-reg mondeo for the remote central locking. The guy at my local car shop tested it on some machine he has and it worked fine. When I try on the car it only works maybe once out of ten.

  There is some sort of catch in the centre but its loose. Oh and I cant get it to a garage because I had taken the battery out to charge it. {swearing deleted. Please see our policy on this for future reference. DD}

  However there is now no power to the glow plugs and the warning light doesn't come on even tho I can here the control unit clicking on. The glow plugs them selves are fine, I tested them with a direct feed. Also the battery light comes on at the first click of the key. What have I done

  I recently got a 306 turbodiesel that needed an engine, (the previous owner blew it up and it threw a rod through the engine), and I have since changed the engine, but now it wont start. It sat for about 5 months and flattened the battery. It has a plip type key. Does this mean it has an immobiliser fitted, and if so, how do i reset the thing. It seems to be getting fuel up to the pump but no further, and is turning over on the key.

  Wondering if any of you VW mechanics have any ideas, ive got VW passat s-reg 1.8 turbo i recently changed the brake pads,this model doesnt have the pad wear indicator, anyway afterwards the ABS light started to flash and a red brake warning light was on. any ideas? does it need reseting? ive tried disconnecting battery but still abs light comes on any ideas would be appreciated.

  Sat in one today, key in ignition and turned to put the electrics on (so I could check the lights n stuff) but didn't start the car. On the dashboard.. along with the usual red battery lamp that stays on if you don't start the car.. a yellow engine icon with a fan in the middle also was on & didn't go out. Like I said.. complete Diesel newbie What does that mean? Should it have been on?

  My wife drives a 1997 1.3lxi Felicia and it has served her well since new.Recently it has been losing power,as if it is not firing on all cylinders.It has been suggested to me that it may be worn HT leads.If this is the case could i, as a complete idiot be able to change them or is it a trip to the garage?? thanks Ona seperate subject i recently had to have the battery replaced and have not got the code anymore to sort out the radio.Any advice ??
