• Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 00 2.0 HDI Major Problems - help please? 1 Apr 2009 (Forum)
  Replaced (£40) still no luck. Finally decided to take matters into my own hands and had the original ECU sent to ECU doctor in plymouth(£120). Said there was a fault that could of caused the high pressure pump to go. So fixed ECU placed back into car and still no luck. Took car to peugeot(i know your thinking, do all that THEN take it to peugeot!

  At first it was intermittent but eventual stayed on permanently. My local garage checked all the wires and found no fault. They then sent the ECU away for examination and they could find no fasult. When the ECU was refitted the light remained off for approx five days but is back on again. There was a recent 24 hour period when it did not come on.

  Scanner is rading fault 57 1+4 coil circuit fault. i have swapped coils & plugs from another vehicle but still non-start. checked for spark & have a very weak spark. checked wiring & had ECU tested. Wiring is ok & ECU was reported to be ok. Has anyone come across this fault? Cheers Ryan

  Doesn't matter if it's hot or cold and if I leave it awhile it will usually go again. It let me down this weekend and while I had the bonnet up I heard a click from under the ecu plate. I think it was from the fuel injection relay. Anyway, it started then. So......is it an ecu fault.? or something in the fuel circuit ??...it doesn't idle very well either. Can I fix it without going to a dealer??

  Some state that this may increase fule consumption - but by removing the egr valve (or turning it off at the ecu) shouldn't this actually improve mpg? Any thoughts welcome.
• VW Passat tuning 16 Sep 2006 (Forum)
  I own a 1999 VW Passat Turbo. The standard stock is 150 BHP. Recently I bought a device on Ebay according to seller tricks the ECU which increases the air flow. (I may have this info wrong). Has anyone fitted a similar device which worked for them? Will this device cause damage to my engine or components? I know most of you would suggest remapping the ECU, but I suppose this is the cheapest method if it works.

  I am given to understand that it may be the cause of some engine hesitation in accelerating away from 1st to 2nd. My ECU was upgraded by Subaru to try to solve the hesitation problem. It worked fine for a couple of days, but now the hesitation is back. Could the ECU be learning from the Knock Sensor and take me back to square one?

  The CEL (Check engine light) does not illuminate, and therefore I am thinking it could be a fuel problem, namely dragging some air through the system. Ive had a recall done that consists of a capacitor between the A/C compressor and the ECU because Mazda found the compressor was sending "bad" voltage spikes to the ECU, causing the thing to shut down. It still stops with the A/C off!! Any clues chaps?

  It had a recent 60,000 main dealer service It has had a new stepper motor and stills idles badly and stalls. The dealer say "the ignition coil has failed, resulting in the failure of the ECU" and qouted £850 to repair it Can a coil result in the damage of the ECU? Is £850 reasonable or can it be done DIY? Am I entitled for money back £140 for the replaced stepper motor as it has not solved the problem?

  hi there wondered if somone can be of help... saturday the battery somehow disconnected on our car after a little wiggle it came back onbut when we went to turn car over it wouldnt start.. called breakdown out they advised the immobiliser wasnt reading the fob chip so towed us home... called a diagnostic guy out on sunday paid him £100 tp connect it to a comp to reset the codes but low and behold the problem still isnt fixed ... he still wanted the money tho... he informs us that the ecu is blocking him access to reset the code so its a job for the dealer.. how much am i probably looking at ???? anyone know ?? pugeout says that it will cost £65 to link it up to the diagnostics computer to find the fault then it will tell us where and how much this is gonna cost... not what i needed jus before xmas ... does anyone know if this is a common thing thats easily fixed.. im so worried ... pls help knd regards sarah

  A local garage read the fault codes and these showed problem on all 4 injectors, but as garage said it is unlikely they are all playing up, they also cleaned throttle body but could find no other faults. The garage did suggest it may be an ecu fault or wiring problem. I did speak to an ecu repair specialist who thought it was not likely to be ecu as they have no ability to self repair like the symptoms would suggest, but rather was a wiring or relay problem.

  Siemens Ecu 5wk9 154 I'm thinking this could be a wiring fault. would there be any problems or known issues with getting a second hand Ecu unit coded in any assistance on this would be greatly apreciated BestRegards Mickeybo It's better to learn from others than to learn from your own mistakes {Post reformatted to make use of the full width of the box, not just 2 thirds of it}

  The mobile mechanic put an indicator box on one of the plug leads, and earth, the car started and ran until the engine was turned off, there were sparks jumping across the coil leads to ground, replaced the coil and amplifier, engine will not start, had the ECU checked by a garage, 14 faults registered, sent ECU away to be checked, OK no problem with the ECU. There is no spark at the plugs or fuel into the injectors when the engine is turned over with the ignition on.

  Two questions. 1) Any experience/advise on what might be causing the problem and best PD method ? 2) This is the first time I have had a problem with an ECU controlled car. I have always been able to resolve problems on older cars, but feel somewhat at arms length without access to the failure codes out of the ECU. I have been looking for ECU readout equipment online, but there doesn't seem much available for the home user.

  Four miles...it started cutting in and out (again inc rev counter flicking on/ off)- I parked up, ten minutes later started fine and drove home. Is it an ECU thingy problem ?? If so where located/ how many of them/ where to get one ?. LAST question - I `like` diesels, and would wish to convert the car. Which would be the best/ simplest diesel conversion ??

  I reported the problem to my local dealer and when they attempted to diagnose they were unable to read from the ECU. They advised that the ECU unit would need to replaced before any further diagnosis. I was discussing the problem with a friend who suggested that this might be a simple problem of low fluid levels in the automatic gearbox.

  Today after 4 months they’ve said it’s finished and the price is over £1000. I bought the injectors myself so I expected 2/3 hours for them. Plus diagnostic. They’ve said the ecu is £600, it was a straight forward clone, I’ve called two online places today who have quoted £120 and £150 for an ECU clone, I gave them my VIN and REG so the price is for the same job. Where do I stand?

  I have seen on mainly USA forums that 1. there was a problem sounding like this with the ECU/ECM with the RAV4 2002-04 model - excpet that they often mentioned a judder which I do not have 2. that the problem is the ECM/ECU 3. That running the car can be damaging the gearbox (though I am not sure how, or how one would know that the box has been damaged.

  pink fluffy dice Garage checked on diagnostic kit - "carried out Tech 1 check, found intermittant fault with ECU. Light now off, if prob reoccurrs, will require a new ECU". Is this flannel? So. This car phutted out at a roundabout 3 weeks ago, re-started after a minute or two (can't remember fault light being on).
