It develops 440Nm from 2,000 0- 4,500rpm with a 15 second overboost to 470Nm The all-new Focus RS optimises acceleration by introducing Launch Control technology to a Ford RS model for the first time. The model also debuts new Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring, for outstanding traction and grip with unmatched agility and cornering speed. Focus RS drivers can select four different Drive Modes that configure the AWD system, damper controls, Electronic Stability Control, steering and engine responses, and exhaust sound to deliver optimum performance in road or circuit driving conditions. -
Half of drivers drive too tired, says Brake 25 Jul 2013 (News)
In 2011 there were 84 deaths and 420 serious injuries in tiredness related crashes in the UK, yet according to Brake half of male drivers are happy to drive more than four hours without a break. Furthermore a third of all drivers admits to ‘pushing on’ if they feel sleepy at the wheel. Julie Townsend, deputy chief executive at Brake, said: "A large proportion of the driving public are scarily confident they can push on through on long drives without stopping. -

However, road safety charity Brake has questioned the law change by saying there should be a legal requirement for all newly-qualified drivers to receive mandatory motorway lessons once they've passed their test. The news comes as research shows that the number of 17-year olds taking the practical driving test has fallen by more than 100,000, since 2007/08, while the overall number of young people (17-25) in the UK learning to drive has plummeted by 20 per cent. -

Roads Minister Stephen Hammond has announced that from today the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) and the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) are to be combined. The title of the combined agency is Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), bringing together a range of motoring services including driving tests, goods and passenger vehicle testing, operator licensing and the supervision of MOTs. -
