  • Vauxhall Corsa C - Corsa CDTI 2005 - Cold morning start problems 18 Sep 2013 (Forum)
It has an EGR Value light/diagnostics test warning but the car drives fine and the mechanic says maybe the EGR value just needs a clean. I have been informed there is the slighest Diesel leak by the fuel pump - not dripping but when you wipe your finger near the pump then is residue on the finger. I have changed the glow plugs twice and had the conductors check and all is fine.
  • Please help me choose a car for a long commute 6 Jan 2013 (Forum)
So I need another seat . This car has been excellent and returns over 50mpg so relatively cheap to run diesel wise. I need a car with a big boot (for the pram and extras) and room in the back for two children plus a car seat. My budget is 8k...for this I've looked at the following: Mondeo 2.0 TDI - Great value for money but the MPG is only mid 40s which would cost around £800 extra per year in fuel.

  • Ford Mondeo - Any other large petrol car suggestions 24 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Leaving low miles aside I'm worried about stories of expensive DMF and other repairs on newer diesels. Traditional handbrake not electronic Traditional key ignition Chain cam rather than belt which I think means the 2.0 petrol Mk4? Reliable, cheap So thinking 2009 or newer Mk4 Mondeo - seems to avoid Mondeo steering rack issues on 2008s and earlier.
  • Any - Dealer Satisfaction when ordering next car 6 Jan 2012 (Forum)
With the various issues I have had with my car since purchased, all fixed under warranty i must add, and the fact that I have been more than satisfied with the car in the past 18 months, I am less than satisfied with the main dealer for things other than the warranty, ie service parts not available, (no air filter in stock) a problem getting hold of a spare key, but sorted when I made a 140 mile round trip to another dealer here in south wales who had the key in stock and was kind enough to knock £30 off the cost which was enough to pay for the fuel used. My local vauxhall (network Q) have been servicing the car, twice this year plus intermediate oil change when "change oil now light" came on, another oil change due at 30,000 because i don't trust the dpf regeneration system even though it appears to be working properly, so to avoid a sump contaminated with diesel, I am doing supplementary oil change @ 5000 miles, with each main service every 10000, I have no problem with the costs of the serving at all.
  • n/a - Used Car Advice? 13 Oct 2011 (Forum)
My situation/needs: - Driving all around the UK/EU - so want something very reliable (am willing to spend a little more for reliability and quality) - willing to spend anywhere from £2000 up to £3500 (maybe £3750 at the very most) - possibly would want 4wd if I could get/find it for the price range im willing to spend in - as i'll be driving around quite a lot, fuel economy would be ideally quite good, but if there are reasons for a car being perfect for my other criteria, although not having the greatest economy, im still keen to hear about it Criteria I have already decided is a must: - under 80K Miles if petrol OR under 110K miles if diesel  (i could be wrong about these figures, but just assuming that anything much more than this for these engine types, and you're going to start having more parts breaking down etc...)
  • Volvo S60 - New Volvo S60 D3 test drive impressions 1 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Just had a new Volvo S60 D3 (the 2 litre 5-pot diesel) on a 24-hour test drive, did around 150 miles of motorway, town and A-road driving. The good: usual Volvo superb front seats (cloth), adjustable every which way. Nice even weighting on all controls, especially steering which has a lovely fluid feel without being overlight.
  • Honda - New honda jazz 1.2 vtec vs Honda jazz 1.4dsi 5 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Plus points for the new shape jazz more space, better visibilty especialy the front quarter light windows, double glove box, the boot bigger, engine is quieter, negative points are i dont like the idea of no spare tyre, the old jazz had a handy boot cover you slide it and it rolls, but the new one they took that away, the interior quality of the new jazz is downgraded, especially the top of the dash, some of the plastic feel cheap, the dash itself got some gimmicks, like the miles left to service, if you drive the vtec gently then it will reward you with 50 mpg figures however if you thrash it then the mpg falls, in my opinion the old idsi engine is more economical cos even if you thrash it the fuel economy does not fall as bad as the vtec. I am in two minds about trading my current car, maybe think of trading it in for the facelifted 05 models onwards or wait for the hybrid jazz. wish honda introduced a 1.5 vtec engine for it, or a diesel like the current 2.2. dtec, maybe they just chop it and put a 1.6 lump in it.
  • Continental Jottings 19 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Security outbound was a 100% check of all vehicles for explosive residues. Steering wheel and door handles checked, took about 5 minutes. 3. Cheapest diesel in all 4 countries was Belgium @ 83 cents a litre; the rest were nearer 1 euro. Note that, on a Sunday and public holidays, almost all garages off the autoroutes sell fuel from unmanned forecourts which accept bank notes and may, or may not, accept UK issued debit and credit cards. 4.
  • Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 04 2.0HDI 110 se - Turbo Hisses like mad 28 May 2008 (Forum)
Also, i only seem to get around 40 MPG, even on the motorway. Could the turbo fault be the cause to me using more fuel as the official figures say i should achieve in excess of 50? My only other gripe with the car is the display panel that sits on the dash in the centre of the car. I believe this is the display that shows any faults / trip meter / clock etc?
  • Newshape Nissan Primera 2.2DCI Fault 16 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Today I went back to the dealer and saw the new (and thankfully experianced)Nissan service forman who said that it he had heard of this before and the conector was make to short from the factory. It is the wire conector in the top right of the engine that controls the fuel injection of the diesel when the turbo cuts in. He is now ordering me a new part which should arrive tomorrow. Has anyone else had the same fault! (The car is 2003 Nissan Primera 2.2 DCI SVE 136ps) Cheers James PS Well done to the RAC.
  • Yaris D4D vs Golf TDI 130 12 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Honest John is a big fan of the Yaris diesel, and I like the design, but I\'m a bit concerned that I\'d get frustrated at the lack of go / refinement. I haven\'t driven one yet. Not sure if I\'d regret changing - any thoughts?

MAF error (I don't remember exact code) 2. P1138 (I don't remember the description) 3. P1614 (fuel pressure regulator valve) He said that I need fuel pressure regulator valve something like this I guess: donorspares.co.uk/images/Peugeotregulator.JPG But I am not sure, if this will help fix the problem.

With the increasing price of fuel I estimate that the current additional consumption, on my average of 14K/year, is costing me about £300 p.a. What else can I do to improve the mpg on the MJ; or am I expecting too much (too soon) ?
