  A slight issue after a 12 hour shift though - I'd left the sidelights on (used to auto lights, you see) and returned to a flat battery. Ill see over the next few days how the battery is.   Always-on is, however, extra wear on the old radiator fan and I'm likely to forget to disconnect it and flatten the battery  The overheating has happened before and if it keeps happening I'm going to bust the head gasket, (traditionally fragile on these 3-cyl engines), assuming I havn't already Last time I fixed it by re-making the connection to the engine temperature sensor which controls the fan relay.

When the ignition key is turned after the car has been idle, the dash display shows "ECO-MOD" which is the annoying mode it goes into to save battery power if you try to use the radio for more than 20 minutes without running the engine!

  Right, i changed my alterntor because it was failing, fitted a used used one the battery light was still on, done all the checks 3 pin plug was ok check the red wire for connectivity all was good. This was charging better than my last alternator was put it under load and it dropped below 12v and never raised to i was happy it was the alternator and was organising to get another sent out(budget as very low on cash at mo).

  My thinking was that if the turbo looks OK then the MAP sensor could be faulty, I took it off, cleaned it and replaced it and disconected the battery for half an hour to clear any faults. Reconnected battery and no faut, engine runs fine. Next day fault is back, my thought is to replace the MAP sensor, any other suggestions?
