  • Which Tyre? 20 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Well the Shuttle is in need of a couple of front tyres, it has P6000s on the the front at the moment but I have always found them to be a bit soft and as such don't wear well, being a 2.3 auto and a 7 seater the fronts take quite a bit of punishment so I want something that is quite hard wearing. So far I have narrowed it down to GOODYEAR - NCT5, Pirelli P6000's again or firestone tz200's the tyre size is 205 65 15H and budget is about £60 tops (each, fitted), I want to stay with a well known brand as this car carries lots of kids and does a fair amount of motorway work now.

  • Space Cadets 12 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Being an anorak, i spotted three things that were obviously not Russian - the Abbott SP Gun patrolling the perimeter in deepest Russia, the GB registered helicopter that transported the cadets to Krimsk, but also the bus (motoring): The bus looked to me to be a LHD Bedford and ex RAF - put a yellow stripe down the side and a roundal, and it's the school bus i used to catch in Liege to go to the British school in the early 80's. Obviously the logo's have been removed. By chance if there's anyone on here who was serving in Europe in the 1980's, and also happens to be watching Space Cadets, can you put my mind at rest? TIA

  • CLK 230 or 320 ? 15 May 2005 (Forum)
So here's where I need some help as I am finding it hard to see the difference between the Elegance and Avantgarde spec apart from the harder ride of the latter. Also is the 320 really a must ? there are loads of 230's out there but the 320's seem scarce. Lastly (Gasp) can anyone tell me the differences between the phase one (97-00) and the phase two (00-02) model apart from the slight body changes. Thanks everyone.
  • Replacing bulb Peugeot 307 21 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I have just been through the delightful experience of replacing a headlight bulb on my 307. If I typpe badddly it\'s because my fingers feel shredded, aching, filthy, and raw ! Talk about squeezing a quart into a pint pot (old fashioned expression for our younger metric viewers...) The bulb has a clip which has to be released.

  • On the cadge-maps 19 May 2004 (Forum)
I am interested in obtaining the Victorian equivalent of a London A to Z or any other type of street maps particularly of South East and the East End of London, Anything that covers from the mid 1800's to the mid-1900's would be wonderful. I can then track the families' various residences. Someone out there just might have said street map curling up in the garden shed so if anyone can assist with advice or supply I would be most grateful.

  • Out of Round Tyres ? 27 Dec 2003 (Forum)
After half an hour on the motorway the vibration makes my foot numb!. I changed the rear wheel bearings and had the tyre\'s balanced and the alignment re-done.This made no difference to the noise or vibration. My local VW garage have suggested that the rear tyre\'s are \"out of round\".I have never heard of this and £110 for two new tyres is not what i want for christmas.
  • GM3000 Automatic gearbox problems 18 Dec 2003 (Forum)
It started changing up through the gears very agressively, as though a turbo-charger had been fitted and max. thrust had been asked for! My wife refuses to go in it, it\'s that bad..... The dealer who sold it to me can\'t solve it. He\'s tried a couple of gearbox specialists & they can\'t solve it either! Neither I nor the dealer is keen to spend a lot of money on a new gearbox.
  • Rain is leaking on my mgf ignition coil 15 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I\'m not sure if there is supposed to be a guard to prevent it from doing this and I would appreciate anyone\'s comments. Thanks - Chris {please refrain from posting using solely UPPER CASE letters. Contributing to an online discussion group with the caps lock on is thought to be bad manners (it\'s a way of expressing bad temper because it looks as if you\'re shouting).
  • Stainless exhaust 24 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I am about to have a custom made s/s exhaust system fitted to my Honda Civic Aerodeck 1.6 VTEC. I have been quoted £250 for the full system up to the cat which should pay for itself as I keep my cars long term. It is being done by a tyre and exhaust outfit well known in the North East where I live.

And really pleasant to drive - the suspension is a lot softer than the E Class and therefore, I think, better. I was happy with the E Class until I tried the S, now I\'m in a major sulk. Now, if I can just get it for the weekend rather than one evening.......

Ha, I thought, pads stuck on after week of rain; rocked car, tried again, moved 5 yards and bang! - o/s rear wheel locked solid. Jacked up wheel, turned it several times both ways, drove a few miles, no problem.
  • Shop a Tax Dodger hotline - BBC 23 May 2003 (Forum)
The city is being used to pilot a new enforcement line which will be available nationwide over the coming months. There are currently about 187,000 unlicensed cars on London\'s streets - worth more than £21m in lost revenue. Many are involved in crime and they are often uninsured. The government estimates the national cost of uninsured driving is £500m - or up to £30 to the legitimate car owner\'s annual insurance premium.
