Electric Folding door Mirrors 28 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I have seen an increasing amount of cars on the roads that are driving with both wing mirrors folded in. They seem to be mostly on cars which have the option of electrically folding them when parked. Does anyone here know if there is a problem with reliability with them? -
Pratnav strikes again 11 Jul 2007 (Forum)
A coach driver from Fareham with a load of 8-year-olds supposedly visiting Hampton Court Palace entered Hampton Court, London on his satnav and followed its instructions to Highbury and Islington station, not an ideal place to be driving a coach most days. Of course we all know that driving does not require high cognitive abilities, just sufficient intellect to contain all or most of the variables and the ability to concentrate. -

Yaris 1.0 Petrol Engine Cut out 13 May 2007 (Forum)
Any clues trying to get it fixed before the warranty runs out? I have told the friend to get rid of the car if the dealer can't fix it. Its too dangerous to drive when the car drives like a Pug 206, which cut out unexpectedly. Regards, Perfect. -
Renault Megane 1.6e RT Gearbox Problems 7 May 2007 (Forum)
Recently i have been experiencing some technical difficulties with my gearbox on my megane. Basically i did a wheel spin in 1st gear, changed into 2nd and lost drive all together. When the engine is idling you can put the car into every gear including reverse without the clutch being depressed. The garage have checked the driveshafts, clutch and other parts of the gearbox and got it down to a small circlip on the differential keeps snapping and thats causing me to lose drive. -
Can you stress a diesel engine? 13 Apr 2007 (Forum)
They can go uphill just as fast in 5th gear without troubles - so how do you / can you stress a diesel car/engine by driving it badly or is it just as solid at any engine speed. Thanks! -
Speeding Coaches 3 Apr 2007 (Forum)
My question is, would it have been any point in reporting him, I couldn't write his registration number down and even if I had would the police have bothered to do anything about it? The driving of some of these foreign registered coaches and lorries at times beggars belief. -
Drunk Driver-Fine+ Ban + wrath of wife 9 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Perth Sheriff Court heard how Paul Neil called 999 to get help but was then breathalysed by the police, who found he was over the limit. The 43-year-old admitted driving while one-and-a-half times the legal alcohol limit on 12 November last year. Neil, from Pitlochry, was banned from driving for a year and fined £500. His solicitor, Paul Ralph, told the court that no matter what punishment the customer sales advisor received, it would be nothing compared to his wife Karen's wrath. -

Missing numberplate scam 1 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Obviously he couldn't use this story if he removed front and rear plates. Also for him to be noticed by a patrol car, the plods would have to be driving in the opposite direction and by the time they turned round he would be gone. How serious an offence is he committing? -
Power Steering Toyota Carina - ouch 5 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I tried to keep refilling it, but it kept leaking. The steering sounded horrible and was very stiff. I kept driving it though, and have since let the fluid just run dry. Now it works like a 'normal' steering column - it's not stiff anymore, just operates as would any car without power steering. It seems fine to me - but I would like to know, is it safe to drive the car like this until I have enough money together to get the power steering fixed? -
oil coolers? waste of money? 25 Sep 2006 (Forum)
alot of people in my car club fit additional oil coolers, which i can see makes sense on a track only car i see them complain/mention that their oil takes forever to warm up, or never goes over xxx degrees surley driving for say 20mins until the oil passes 80 degrees is daft, and wastes fuel and increases engine wear? i know having oil running at crazy high temps is bad, but isnt it almost as bad having cool oil all the time any ideas what the safe /best temps for oil is.....my manual states not to drive hard until 80deg buts doesnt say alot about how hot is too hot -
ford mondeo start up problems 23 Sep 2006 (Forum)
On start up when i depress the accelorator the revs go down and the engine loses power till it warms up and then it gets better. It can take up to 10 minutes before i am able to drive away. When i am driving the car seems kangaroo at any speed. I have changed leads, coil pack, plugs disconnected the egr valve and blocked hoses and the the fuel pressure valve. Nothing seems to work. -
What cheap Diesel for long distances 8 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I'm looking for a second car for long distance driving ( to Germany and back). I need good mpg so a diesel is obvious. As the distances are 600+ miles each way I would like a resonably comfortable car for almost continous motorway driving. I also need to be able to move stuff so a large hatch or estate would be in order. -
Vectra stalling 24 Jul 2006 (Forum)
It first happened 3days ago on the way home from work, then after 30mins started ok, only to die again a mile up the road. Now its stuck on the drive with a flat battery, and when jump started, does the same even when sat on idle. Any idea's??? TIA AdyBee... -
Whats fair mileage for a tyre ? 12 Jul 2006 (Forum)
One of my collegues was astounded that you should get that much, the other was shocked that you would get that little. What do other folks think ? I'm not talking about specialist brands, sports cars, hard driving, off roaders etc, etc. Just typical Joe Motorist. MTC -
2001 megane auxiliary belt problem 29 Jun 2006 (Forum)
hi i'm ashamed to say i know nought about cars. My y reg 2001 renault megane went clunk today while i was driving and my steering went stiff. I was close to home so flipped the bonnet up to see what i now know is the auxiliary drive belt off and two round cogs loose in the compartment. After checking in my haynes manual they appear to both be off the alternater, one fitting inside the other and presumably screwing onto the slightly damaged thread from the alternator. -
Terrano/Maverick Wheel Wobble 21 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Hi I've just found this site whilst looking for a solution to my wheel wobble on a 1996 2.7TD Ford Maverick (long wheel base) and wondered if anyone had encountered it before. The car drives fine up to 50 MPH then develops a violent wobble through the steering wheel that seems to get worse when cornering. I can drive through it and after 60 MPH it more or less goes away, passengers claim to be able to feel a "movement" coming through the foot well on that side when slow manovering. -
Skoda Octavia - Extremely High Idle 6 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Hi I have a W-reg Skoda Octavia 1.6 petrol and occasionally (about once a month) the engine starts reving at 4500 revs. It can happen whilst stationary or driving. Whilst driving you realise what is happening quite quickly since the car doesn't race away from you, and you have to pulling in, stop the engine and restart and then everything is fine again for about another month. -
turbo sport or SE 3 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I need a family car that I will probably only drive long distances on weekends and which my wife will drive to the odd shop. I am tossing up between 2 passats and would like your views on which one to choose and why. The first passat is a 51 reg SE model with 70000 miles and the vendor wants £3500.
