Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 1995 2.0 Water coolant leak 6 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Why is this so. The part does no appear to be broken and this happens only after a drive and when park. Have removed the large hose under the inlet manifold and there are no cracks in the pipe!! Stevie -

Cling film the car? 18 Jun 2008 (Forum)
As much as I love driving these sort of distances, I hate having to try and remove all the dead insects at the other end. Apart from possibly looking stupid, could I put some cling film on the front of bonnet and bumpers and just peel off when I arrive and take all the dead things with it? -
If a tree falls over in a forest... 5 Jun 2008 (Forum)
...does it make a sound? Suppose you were driving up to a junction with traffic-lights. As you drive up to the traffic-lights, you see that they have turned red. However, this is a junction with which you are very familiar, there is unobstructed vision for a long way along all the roads, weather is perfect visibility, and there are no other cars anywhere near the junction. -
Vauxhall Astra H (2004 - 2009) - 04 1.6 Squealing wheels 9 May 2008 (Forum)
Hope somebody can help me with my squealing wheels. Here's what is happening... - After about 20 mins driving a squeal starts on the passenger side wheels - The squeal disappears when steering to the right - The squeal disappears when applying the brakes - The squeal is worst when steering to the left - The squeal is worst when driving at faster speeds - When I stop, the wheels are incredibly hot; I presume due to some friction going on - I have taken the car into a garage where they checked out and cleaned the brake pads and this resulted in no improvement Has anyone experienced similar? -

Bus lanes 26 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I ask, because there's a stretch (less than 1 mile) of bus lane in my town that is only operational between 16:30 and 18:30 on weekdays, clearly stated on all 6 of the signs. When it is not in operation, I would estimate that 90% of drivers drive merrily along in the offside lane. Some start to get 'uppity' about seeing someone (me) driving perfectly legally alongside them. I get the impression they think I'm trying to avoid the line of traffic and cut in at the end of the zone. -

So when will we see the first prosecution ? 14 Jan 2008 (Forum)
As many as 67 per cent of women have a hairstyle that can fall in their eyes while they are at the wheel, it said. In the poll of 1,000 women drivers nearly half said they never tied their hair back before driving.' Well, we have the clamp down on mobile phone use, eating, smoking at the wheel because it is considered dangerous. We have the issuing of fines to drivers whose side windows are considered to be too dark because they are dangerous Why shouldn't people who drive with their eyesight obscured not be treated like criminals as well ? -
Nissan Skyline GT-R (1989 - 2002) - Failed puncture repair 19 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Is it worth risking another repair attempt or is coughing up nearly £500 for 4 replacement tyres (joy of 4 wheel drive!) my only option? I did drive off quite soon after the repair was done so is it possible the glue just didn't cure properly and a second go would be successful? The tyres on it are about 3 years old max. -
German cities Low Emission Zone 14 Dec 2007 (Forum)
This may be of use to some of you if you visit Germany. As of 1st Jan. 2008 you will need a windscreen sticker to drive in Cologne city centre, Cologne is the launch city (as far as I am aware). ALL vehicles (motorbikes excluded), including foreign vehicles, must have a sticker to drive in the centre. The plan is to roll out to other cities. -

Automatic - v- Manual 23 Oct 2007 (Forum)
The second car will be for my use and are thinking of purchasing an automatic as a fair proportion of my driving is done in stop start driving, but would like to know if would be a wise choice to go for an automatic based on the following Journey to work: 15 miles(10 miles on twisty A Roads + 1 miles on dual carriageway + 4) miles in town Leisure 3000 miles a year (1500 on long journeys + 1500 on short pottering around journeys & jounreys of not more than 45 miles each way) Also is there a lot of difference between manaul and automatic fuel consumption, any car purchased will be between 5 to 7 years old with around 60000 to 80000 miles on the clock. -

Speed limiters to Company Cars 19 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Of course the recommendation also comes with big increase in VED for high CO2 vehicles and company cars will be the thin end of the edge and it will spread. So question - how many years before we are all driving 3 cylinder 1 litre diesel cars in this country just to be able to afford to stay on the road - whilst of course it will make minimal impact as housing and industry (not to mention rest of the world continuing to drive what they want) continue to grow and produce greater quantities of CO2. -
Ideal car for Taxi 16 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I've applied for my taxi licence in my local council and waiting to hear from them. In the mean time I'm looking at my options with regards to either buying my own car or driving one of the taxi firm's on 60/40 or 50/50 basis depends who I go with! It'll be a part-time job. I've been doing pizza deliveries for over 3 years as a part time driver so I know my way round. Would it be worth me selling my Volvo and buying a car that'll be less than 5 years old or just drive one of the taxi firm's cars? -
Vauxhall Frontera Heat shield rattle 1 Aug 2007 (Forum)
When the garage fixed the head they sheared a bolt off the heat shield (the heat shield which covers the manifold I think - to the right of the engine when looking in). This now rattles all the time and drives me crazy when driving it! Vauxhall dealership told me this can be taken off and was removed in the future models built after this one. I took it off, lost the rattle but when I lifted the bonnet I got a bit worried everthing was getting a bit too hot so put it back on. -
National Speed Limits 31 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Or is it that speed cameras detect something moving at a certain trigger point regardless of size/type meaning that they can drive at car limits without fear of being caught. Can anyone explain?
