Ford - £5,000 to spend, which Ford estate? 7 Apr 2008 (Forum)
He'll use the car for Dad's taxi runs, viewing the relatives, trips to airports and offices around the S of England etc. No regular commuting. He reckons he'll clock up 12k a year, he thinks he's best off with a petrol estate, and he really only wants Ford. Question is whether it's a Focus or Mondeo. -

Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 2007 1.6LX - Increased tyre noise vs 1999 Focus 16 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Although an improved car I am disappointed by the increased tyre noise. The original car had Michelin Energy tyres, whereas the new one is fitted with Pirelli P7's. Does anyone know if there is a reason why the new car should have increased tyre noise, especially at motorway speeds, or is it just down to the Pirelli tyres? -

Trailer questions (switch, payload, number plate). 22 Nov 2007 (Forum)
How can I find out, or estimate, the payload? The bit which clips over the tow ball has "AT 750Kg" on it, and "S 75Kg" - are these maximum for the component? I find it hard to believe that the trailer is OK for 750Kg, and can't find another plate on it. Do I need a car-type number plate, or can I make up a decent DIY one and be road-legal? -
Quick estate & m.p.g 3 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I've currently got a mazda bongo which i use for short trips to teach dog training and weekend trips on the motorway but the m.p.g is killing me 25 around town and 30 if im steady on the motorway do 70-80 and it drops well into the 20's. Im thinking of selling/trading it and getting a large estate such as: Bmw 528/530 Merc c240/250 e230/320 Volvo t5 Subaru legacy Mitsubishi vr4 the 2 jap options seem good value for money(imports) and i import garage will hopefully be more intrested in the bongo, but the main thing is the estates m.p.g? -

Since I already hold these details ,and take a dim view of unnecessary insurance anyway, my instincts tell me I would be wasting my twenty quid. What do the B/R`s think? -

Kangoo Radio Code Reset 17 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Help please? Just bought a 98 /S Kangoo van with a Blaupunkt radio cassette fitted. Not sure what model it is, but it preset buttons in a block on right and does have the remote paddles on the steering column. It worked rather well until I inadvertantly disconnected the battery thanks to Renault battery clips, and it now needs the code inserted. -
99 206 XS - Air Con 13 Apr 2007 (Forum)
When switched on the light comes on but i dont hear the compressor kick in, at idle i do not notice the revs drop when switched on either. Didnt seem to really chill the air so i think something is up. On 206's are there common problems with the air con or where do i start with diagnosing the issue? It worked fine last summer/autumn. thanks -

I bought an S plate 1.9TD Volvo S40 today, its got 114k on the clock and it needs service. I'm planning to do it all myself with the help of a mechanic friend. I need to change the oil in the gearbox (its manual) because it feels stiff when changing gears. -
how to remove scrapyard pen markings 13 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Put my 2 replacement doors on the Primmy last w/e but can't get the markings off the doors that the breaker wrote on them, you know, "Primera '99 n/s/f" plus their part numbers. I've tried petrol, WD40, brush cleaner, brake cleaner, white spirit, meths and soapy water. I can get a bit off with the soapy water but it looks like it could be a time-consuming job (probably longer than swapping at least one of the doors!) -

Driving Madrid-Malaga 28 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Hotels each end are booked, but he wants advice on a nice place to stop on the way down for lunch, and any unmissable spots round Malaga way (Gibralta is high on the list, and he fancies taking a trip over to Morocco is that´s not too tricky). Not a part of Europe that I know much about, so any advice from you all would be gratefully received. BTW his intitial estimate for the drive down was `about 2 1/2 hours´. Hmm.....nearer 6 hours I thought.
