  We have been told that "the war against the motorist is over". We have been told that whole areas are having their speed cameras removed. Over the next year or 2, we are surely going to get lots of information about accident rates before and after the presence of speed cameras. What do we predict will happen?  I don't mean just to accident rates; how will the advocates of speed cameras, who cited speed cameras as a means of reducing accidents, adjust their position (assuming they're prooved wrong of course!).

  If the camera had caught me it would have been filming across the flow of traffic coming the other direction. I think the cameras are more likely to film cars on the same side of the road as them. I think it more likely this van was filming those entering the 30mph limit.

  Son and I were strolling into town the other day and we pondered a shiny yellow camera. I daydreamed that Captain Gatso would appear to no avail. Now there were two little holes facing one way and on the other side what appeared to be a flash unit and camera. Correct me if I am wrong but it seems that you are monitored approaching the camera and photographed after you have passed by.

  I don't really have a problem with covert cameras to be honest. In fact, I think the use of a covert camera would more accurately reflect the negative attitude to speed limits by drivers. When approaching overt cameras, all that happens is that speeding drivers brake on approach, then speed up again after.

• GATSO SPEEDING CAMERA QUERY NO ROAD MARKINGS 19 Feb 2013 (Forum)
  Hello In my town there is two lanes travelling one way with a gatso speed camera and both these lanes have the white line speed markings. on the other direction travelling towards teh camera is two lanes with NO white line speed markings. I was behind a car travelling a bit faster than me and we were travelling towards the camera (opposite side) and teh camera flashed (two flashes only) but not sure if there was nay car on the opposite side Can you tell me if I will get speeding ticket despite no white speed markings?
