Automatic number plate recognition cameras will continue to track VED evaders. One of the biggest changes, however, is that VED can no longer be transferred between vehicle owners. This means that when you (as the registered keeper) sell a car, you will automatically receive a refund of any remaining full months of VED once you’ve informed DVLA of the change of ownership.

  Every September or October someone enters a latest plate, fully loaded black X5 Sport diesel automatic and tries to get a premium. The slight changes this year are that the X5 has had a facelift, now sits on much better suspension than it did before and has had a list price increase. So though it reads like a lot, a top bid of £46,000 wasn’t quite what the vendor was after.

  I get asked a lot about cars for disabled people and the 14k mile 2000W Renault Kangoo 1.4 automatic in the photo could not have been more perfectly suited. It saw a top bid of £3,700. Another contender was a 12k mile 2000W Suzuki Wagon R+ GL automatic which bid to £2,875. Even better with its low rear loading sill, a Yaris Verso.

  Corvette Makes £25,400 at Auction Today 25 Nov 2002 (News)
  While the three star Top Cars remained unsold at Blackbushe today, this awesome 21,000 kilometre 2001Y Corvette automatic roadster attracted enough buyers into the hall next door to sell over reserve at £25,400. A useful valuation for a rare, unbooked car. Meanwhile, at Top Car, a 2000X Ferrari F360 with the F1 gearbox and low 11k miles stalled at a top bid of £79,000, which is a full £10,000 under trade book.

  Big Car Bargains at Blackbushe 13 Jul 2001 (News)
  A 120,000 mile Mercedes C250TD Sport looked on the low side at £8,550. A pair of 10,000 mile 2001X KIA Sedona 2.9TD SX automatics couldn't get near their reserves of £13,000. And a 17,000 mile 99V Alfa 166 2.5 Sportronic was way shy of trade book at just £9,400. But at Top Car on Monday a 35,000 mile 91J Aston Martin Virage 3-speed automatic made a surprising comeback.

  Electric Mazda MX-30 priced from £26,995 4 Mar 2020 (News)
  The electric SUV's list price includes the Government's £3500 plug-in car grant, which is automatically deducted at the point of registration. Before the grant, the MX-30 lists at £30,495. Limited to 500 models in the UK, the MX-30 First Edition is a high-spec model intended to appeal to early adopters, with highlights including navigation (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), radar cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a windscreen projecting head-up display.

  Aston Martin V8 restoration project at auction 18 Aug 2017 (News)
  It is essentially a facelifted version of the DBS V8 – the main styling differences being the single headlamps and revised front grille. In total, 288 examples of the 5.3-litre V8 model were made – most of them with automatic transmission. This right-hand drive example has spent the past nine years stored in a garage. It has been lightly recommissioned under its current owner, but will need serious work before it is roadworthy. The car is accompanied by its original driver’s pack as well a history file that includes the car’s first ever MoT and documentation up until it was SORN'd 12 years ago.

  Time-warp Ford Granada Scorpio for sale 25 Nov 2016 (News)
  The car, which was saved from destruction by its current owner, is a right-hand drive, automatic 24-valve example. It was built by Ford and donated to a technical college in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to be used for the training of technicians before the production model was launched to the open market.

  Paris Motor Show 2016: Mercedes-Benz introduces ‘All-Terrain’ E-Class 21 Sep 2016 (News)
  Initially the E 220d will be the only engine, producing 194PS, but an E 350d V6 will be available later. Both get a 9G tronic automatic transmission as standard. The E 220d has official economy of up to 54.3mpg and emissions of as low as 139g/km, depending on the equipment specified.   Wheels are 19- or 20-inch, but Mercedes-Benz promises ride quality is good thanks to the combination of tall sidewalls, air suspension and increased ride height.

  Aston Martin dealer now selling mini DB Convertible for children 31 Jan 2014 (News)
  Priced from £16,5000, the shrunken replica of a 1960s DB, which is two-and-a-half metres long, is powered by a 110cc petrol engine linked to a three-speed semi-automatic transmission.  It’s not just a toy – top speed is 46mph and everything works, from the headlights and indicators to the electric starter and the horn. Buyers can even be as discerning as they would be when purchasing a full-sized Aston Martin – there’s a selection of interior trims and colours that can even be matched to another car.

  Next MINI to come with head-up display 11 Oct 2013 (News)
  The MINI will also come with adaptive cruise control and a digital headlight assist function which switches between main and dipped beam automatically by detecting oncoming traffic and vehicles in front. Other system will include collision warning and pedestrian warning systems, including a city braking function. There's also the MINI parking assist feature and a reversing camera.

  Mitsubishi announces summer saver deals 8 Jul 2013 (News)
  The offer is applicable to the entire Shogun range, with a £3900 discount off the entry-level SWB SG2 manual and £3900 off Warrior variants. A saving of £5000 can be made on the range-topping LWB SG4 automatic. The Mitsubishi Shogun is offered with zero per cent APR, with the option of spreading payments over a negotiable period to reduce the monthly fee. ASX crossover buyers can take advantage of a 50/50 finance deal, with the option of paying half up front and then - after 18 months - choosing between buying the vehicle outright, part-exchanging it for a new model or simply giving the car back and walking away.

  Honda develops ‘City-Brake Active’ for next Jazz 2 Apr 2013 (News)
  If it identifies an imminent collision it will alert the driver with an audio and visual warning, and if the driver takes no action it will automatically apply the brakes.  Similar systems are already in production from other manufacturers, but Honda has an additional feature designed to protect against unintended acceleration. If the car detects a sudden, heavy application of the throttle and there is  another vehicle in front and within approximately four metres it will play an audio and visual warning while restricting engine output, preventing the car from surging forward.

  As before power comes from a 1.8-litre petrol with 126PS and a five-speed manual or the 2.0-litre with 160PS and either automatic or manual six-speed transmissions.
