Any car suggestions?...... 26 Jun 2002 (Forum)
I have a very loose budget (up to £15k, lower the better) to spend on a new or second hand car and fuel expenses will be claimed back from the boss. The devil on my shoulder is telling me to go mad for once in my life and get the hot rod I never had in my twenties (I'm 33). However the better side of my nature is telling me to buy something cheap (used Vectra), reliable (Honda), image enhancing (BMW, Merc) and diesel. -

Jaguar S-Type (1999 - 2007) - Long term running report on an 04 diesel auto. 1 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Phoned Jaguar Assist & they had someone out in 90 minutes, he took me to Calais where Jaguar Assist had got me a booking (I was on the tunnel originally) & they had me collected in Dover & taken home all at no cost. In the morning I collected our jerrycans & by ppulling a pipe off the diesel filter drained the tank completely & then refilled with diesel. A local factors had a filter in stock & it started after some cranking & has never seemed to be any the worse for it! Fuel consumption whilst we? -
Is there extremely reliable used car under 10k gbp 8 Dec 2020 (Forum)
my other concern is Car to have great or extremely good rust protection, and i would love to have at least distronic so automatic cruise control i love manual gearbox, since automatic gear box are slugish but if there isnt any other option i would accept it also i dont think i will be able to pay for more than 200hp taxes fuel consumption so its very limited options, about diesel vs petrol dillemma i dont know if there is a decent , recent diesel which can last forever compared to old ones so i do think petrol is more reliable.. -

The engine is the 2.0 VAG diesel, the car is on an 09 plate. Any thoughts on what this might have been? (Buying diesel in rural France for 1.04 Euro (about 80p) was like going back to the 90s!) -
Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - 96 1.5d Flat Start 14 Nov 2014 (Forum)
I have also checked the temperature sensor which the post heat timer works off and this gives no resistance reading when cold but when hot I get a reading although can't remember exactly what so I am guessing this is also working fine. I'm not too familiar with diesel engines and fueling but I take it the white smoke is down to unburnt diesel getting into exhaust manifold and then being ignited there? I'm now stuck for suggestions so all help welcome. Moved into its own standalone post - The original post can be found below http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm? -

Advice on which car to buy. 27 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I have my eye on a few cars - BMW 330D, Jaguar X-Type 2.0D, Vauxhall Vectra SRi CDTi 150, and a few others. I need a diesel, as I do the miles. Going off what I currently get on LPG and with the price of LPG, I need around 41MPG average from my next car. So a diesel is the right option. Styling is something I do take into consideration. -

Ford Fusion 1.4 TDCi (2004) - Fusion 1.4TDCi injector seals leaking after repair 13 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Dear All, I have a 2004 Ford Fusion 1.4TDCi. I had a leak from the rocker cover gasket for a while which turned out to be a leaking fuel injector, when I took it to the garage they pointed out the "ticking" noise of the leaking injector. I thought it was oil initially but turned out to be diesel. It was actually leaking whilst under warranty but the local Ford garage informed me that "Gaskets were not covered", as I thought I had a rocker cover gasket leak. -
