  • Ferrari apprentices go back to the old school 16 Mar 2017 (News)

Training will be given on ballast resistor ignition systems and magneto ignition systems both single and twin.  Students will also learn about dynamo charging systems, twin points distributor set ups, as well as setting up multiple carburettors and mechnical fuel injection. And, as you’d expect from a course on classic Ferraris, there will be plenty of hands-on learning with straight cut dog mesh gearboxes.
  • A Grand Monday: Mercedes-Benz C180 15 Aug 2016 (News)
Why? Well, whereas the old-school Benzes were the absolute byword for longevity, renowned for being over-engineered and having the best build quality of any car in the world, their successors had been more closely inspected by the Stuttgart bean counters, whose desire to save money overruled the desire of those who wanted to make them the best they could be.

  • Budget 2017: Tax exemption continues for classic cars 8 Mar 2017 (News)
Critics argue that the 40-year age limit is unfair for many modern classics, with their complex electrical and safety systems. When these fail, even a car as young as ten years old can be deemed beyond economical repair. They argue that the limit should be reduced to 30 or even 25 years. ‘It was a huge challenge, but very fitting for us to prepare a car that was more than 100 years old for our 100th programme,’ said Brewer. ‘You can’t simply buy parts off the shelf for these cars, so it needed a huge amount of re-engineering and lots of new skills which we had to learn.
  • A Grand Monday: Volkswagen Scirocco 19 Oct 2015 (News)
s=carAndClassic&id=C669765"> this one, we think, is something of a bargain at £800 . With the seller since September 1989, when it was traded in as a three-year old car at a VW dealership, there aren’t many old Vee-dubs left with this few number of owners, let alone Sciroccos, which were relatively rare to begin with. The car has clearly been well maintained, coming with a full service record right back to the day it was registered, along with nearly new tyres and a battery.

  • A Grand Monday: Peugeot 403 pick-up 10 Nov 2014 (News)
Oh, and the original owner’s handbook is still in the glove compartment – so that’s okay then. This rare old truck appears to be pretty complete and apparently rolls freely, although that inevitably means it’s currently a non-runner. So if you’ve a penchant for French commercials and you fancy taking on a fresh project for the winter months, this handsome old pick-up might just be a good place to start – especially with its realistic asking price of £995.

Only coupe/cabriolets are beating them in terms of value rises in the current market."
