  On my route to work through chelmsford there is a tight bend with a set of lights immediately after it. There is a camera on them and I inadvertantly went through the amber this morning, my mate was in the car and didn't see a flash but i wasn't sure, i think i may have seen one (or could be a car pulling up at the lights behind me and my active imagination) this got me thinking: if i did get done, what would be the effect when i renewed my insurance?

  Today I had great pleasure in driving the M25 going through the dartford TOLL tunnel and around to J25, (from Swanley) has anyone else noticed the \"forest\" of new speed cameras that have grown recently? All covered at the moment with a pinky cover, written on it \"not in use\" - Oh Im sure they damn well will be pretty damn soon...... Dont get me wrong, I think the \"variable speed limit\" works well, but to just stick up more money making machines, to hit the motorist again stinks!

Dear Editor, Would readers who believe that speed cameras and traffic calming save lives please explain why, with a crackdown on speeding and rigid enforcement of speed limits in their areas, in the past year, Lincolnshire has seen a 16% rise in fatalities, Essex has a 49% rise and Suffolk has seen a 75% increase.

  Others in the village have also been clocked at 36mph by this camera. I emailed the local West Yorks Camera Unit who replied saying yes, there had been a problem recently with that particular camera. Now for the reason Im posting in this thread... Im currently sat with 9 penalty points on my licence and if I plead guilty and take 3 more it will mean a ban, something which will decimate my home and working life.

  Traffic engineers can also simply increase the yellow-light time at problem junctions until red-light offences are reduced. Wouldn't extending the amber a second or two be simpler than installing expensive camera devices? No revenue in that. So our oppressors can make money by fitting red light cameras and then reduce the amber time to make even more. I heard of a case in Cardiff where a chap drives towards a particular junction with red light cameras and he says 9 times out of 10 the light changes to red with a fast amber even though there is no traffic approaching the junction on the other roads.

  I think I may have gone through a speed camera at 35mph in a 30. My speedo was on about 35 so I am guessing I may have been doing 33 but I may have been going a little faster. There is this road Chester Road heading towards the Manchester United stadium, it is 40mph most the way but then becomes 30mph I have onlyu just noticed this and there is a speed camera there.

  We have just one complaint and that is that the camera is not small. It is not huge, but it is the size of a traditional 35mm point and shoot film and zoom camera and does not fit into a pocket of my trousers, whereas my wife's Olympus Mju (35mm film) just about does.

• Audi A4 - Speed camera flashed on M62 but within the speed l 27 Jul 2024 (Forum)
  I was on the M62 this morning travelling between Leeds and Bradford (where there is a variable speed limit) and there were no lights illuminated on the overhead gantries and was doing 70 or just under on my speedo when I saw a camera flash behind me. Could it be that it may been flashing at another motorist or even a lorry doing more than their permitted motorway speed or do they flash even when at 70 mph, as I have used this route many times and aware of my speed whilst on this stretch of the M62.

  This is a new one on me. "Noise-detecting cameras are on their way to more parts of the country in the coming weeks. Having initially been deployed in an area of Bradford, drivers in Birmingham, Bristol, and parts of Norfolk will also be monitored.

  Was driving home and on the m1 somewhere between sheffield and leeds there has been roadworks going on, i seen a sign that i thought said 60, so i slowed down, then i got towards the boards and they actually said 50 as i seen a flash, however the flash came from infront of me somewhere i didnt see exacty, do the cameras on the m1 face forward aswell as backwards and therefore can catch you front facing? My speedo is out by 3 mph and i may not have been doing 60 bang on but rather 68(65).

  I am trying to fit a rear view camera to my ix35 .The camera replace one of the number plate lights.The original just clips out  and the bulb and fitting are replaced easily. But with the camera I need to pass the video cable through into the inner area.

  A friend reckons, in the same scenario. The camera is fully automated and can detect each vehicle on approach. Been to "motordefenceteam" site which explains all camera's used by various police forces. But not enough said of the their functions to settle our views.

  Any idea's of what distance a Mobile safety camera van on the road side starts to measure your speed and over what distance to get a reading on an open roadway from a lay-by. I saw one approx. half to three quarter of a mile away, at the time I saw van I was doing 53mph (digital) on a 50mph limit dual carriageway.

  However, good for them because this is a bit of 30mph dual carriageway in a residential area just where folk cross from Asda with their shopping so it was acting as a safety camera not a revenue collector. Any way, I digress. After seeing this van I realised how much they look like ambulances and even more so like Autoglass vans. Not a criticism, just an observation.
