Cars that looked dear to me included an imported 21k mile 2001Y Mercedes SLK 230K with a few scratches, bid to £18,500; a scruffy, badly kerbed 37k mile 2001/51 reg BMW 325i Compact, bid to £11,900; a 53k mile 2001/52 Toyota RAV-4 NRG 2.0 automatic, bid to £11,400; a 28k mile 02 reg VW Golf 1.6SE, sold for £8,550; a 20k mile 2002/51 reg Volvo C70 2.4T convertible, bit to £17,000 (though at least it had the right engine); and a 36k mile 2000X Freelander TD4 GS 5-door, sold for £11,650. More sensible was a top bid of £9,350 for a 33k mile 2001/51 Freelander 2.5V6 GS hardback automatic; the £3,050 that bought a 62k mile 2000W Rover 45 2.0TD IE; the £3,900 that took home a 35k mile 2000W Rover 45.1.6 Club and the £5,650 bid for a 37k mile 02 reg Honda Civic 1.4S. -

Cars with torsion bar rear suspension like Peugeots and Renaults suffer with it badly. And even the extremely well built Volvos sometimes struggle. Rossini Performance Products has produced a new range suspension muscle spring kits which are specifically designed to solve suspension sag and bottoming out. Special progressive springs are supplied in the kit. -

A 73k mile 98S Mercedes C180 Esprit manual with no history started promisingly enough at £4,500, but went on to sell for £7,200. A 13,000 mile 2002/02 Volvo S80 D5 automatic made a solid £18,750. A 12,000 mile 2001Y Audi S3 held its own to sell for £18,300. While a trio of new-shape Audi A4 B6s were not too far off 3-Series money. The 22k mile 2001Y 2.0SE bid to £13,200; the 21k mile 2001Y 2.0 Sport sold for £14,200; and the 8k mile 2002/02 2.5TDI 180 Quattro sold for £18,800. -
£7,650 Buys Polo 1.4TDI at Auction Today 17 May 2002 (News)
At the other end of the scale, a facelift 2000X BMW 525iSE auto in a nice shade of metallic blue and with 36,321 miles made a stonking £17,600. A 2000X Volvo C70 2.0T Convertible with 16,000 miles sold for £18,000. And in between, a 2000X 5,000 mile Golf IV 1.6 16v auto with a/c and in silver sold for a substantial £10,050. Against this money, an E46 99V 323iSE with 46,000 miles looked value at £10,950. -

. £1,995 would make sense. Did you miskey? Giving owners a brake I have a June 2008 Volvo S40 saloon, mileage 33k. I recently had the warning "anti skid service required" appear. I have been told that Volvo have covered the cost for remedying this problem, but my Volvo dealer thinks the free cover by Volvo is for cars under 6 years old. -

Estimated at £10,000-£13,000, it’s a lot of over-the-top luxury Americana for the money, and comes complete with a lots of history and the hard-to-find workshop manuals. Other well-presented early entries for February 26 include a 1992 Ginetta G33 and a 1973 Volvo P1800 ES. One of just 70 still in existence, the Ginetta has been restored to original specification by the vendor, who likes this car so much that he has owned it three times (est £15,000-£20,000). -

Triumph TR250 takes on Trans-America challenge 20 Jun 2018 (News)
Second place in the Classics category went to Mike and Lorna Harrison in the 1963 Volvo PV544 (pictured). Mike loved the route, loved the variety of landscapes and loved the competition. Jim Gately and Tony Brooks in the 1937 Cadillac Convertible took home the Vintageant class win and third place overall against a field of newer cars which was a magnificent achievement. -

Our lead car is actually a well known, beautifully built hot rod featuring independent front suspension, a modified lightweight aluminium Rover V8 engine, three speed Borg Warner 65 automatic box and a Volvo rear axle. It’s estimated at £25,000 to £30,000. This Ford Model A street rod has an original all steel 1929 3-window body and chassis (not a fibreglass copy). -
London Taxi Company reborn with £300m new plant for electric black cabs 22 Mar 2017 (News)
The new taxi will go on sale in late 2017 and feature an electric powertrain sourced from Volvo, which is also owned by Geely. The LTC hasn't released any details of how far the taxi will travel on a single charge or how much it will cost to buy, but the new black cab should reach the road by early 2018 and provide a low emissions alternative to diesel. The Secretary of State for Business, Greg Clark, said: "T he London Mayor and TfL have played a significant role in putting the taxi industry on a more sustainable footing – including their proposed taxi decommissioning scheme, their commitment to build a dedicated charging network for commercial vehicle drivers and world leading zero emission licensing requirements. -
A Grand Monday: DAF 44 30 Jan 2017 (News)
Supplied new by the garage that's selling it (a former DAF dealer) in 1974 - the penultimate year of 44 production before DAF cars were absorbed into the Volvo empire - it was bought back by the vendor in the mid-1990s and has spent the past 20 years languishing in a garage building. As such, it has only covered 50,000 miles from new, and although the Mimosa Yellow paintwork looks a bit flat, there's a good, solid bodyshell beneath it. -

The Italian pair were closely followed by Mike Velasco and Peter St George in the 1971 Mercedes 280S with the clock reading 0:36:25. Third place went to Ludovic Bois and Julia Colman on 0:36:39 in the 1969 Volvo ‘Amazon’. In the Vintageant category, it was seasoned rally entrant Bill Cleyndert and his navigator Jacqui Norman who were victorious in the ‘indestructible’ 1928 Ford Model A. -
£1.77m worth of classic cars sold at auction 3 Feb 2015 (News)
One 1980s lover stumped up £1,300 for a now rare Rover 800 in base-level 820e saloon form and a beige 1981 Volvo 244DL in rarely-seen superb order made £2,467. ACA’s Proprietor Lyn George said: “Given the time of year and the weather forecast, the bumper crowd took us by surprise. The atmosphere was amazing all day with some fantastic results for the vendors and buyers.” Anglia Car Auctions’ next classic car sale takes place on Saturday, 4 April. -
