  • Toyota introduces five-year warranty as standard 1 Jun 2010 (News)
    Toyota has introduced a new five-year/100,000 mile warranty as standard on all new cars bought from June 1st, making it one of the longest warranties available on any new car. The new scheme replaces the manufacturer's existing three-year/60,000 mile warranty and is great news for new car buyers.

    Rover announced further price cuts on 6th October and added three years servicing to its three year 60,000 mile warranty package inclusive in the prices of the cars. These now start at £8,495 on the road for a Rover 25 1.4i three-door and £9,995 for a Rover 45 1.4E five-door with the useful 103 bhp engine.

    It was engineered in Britain and is assembled in Birmingham.  Richard Bourton,MG’s Business & Used Car Sales Manager, said: “Initially most of the cars in the programme will be less than a year old and with a reasonable mileage. They will be great buys for people wanting to get into an MG6 and the cars will still have the balance of the original warranty, AA European Breakdown Assistance and the higher spec models will have lifelong subscription to Traffic Master.”

    Air con is also no longer the luxury it once was. Experts estimate that almost four out of five new cars now come fitted with the cooling system as standard. Tesco Cars isn't the first high profile online car retailer to fail. Jam Jar cars was launched amid much publicity in 2000.

The car will be a useful alternative to a Subaru, which had this market pretty much to itself until now.
