  • Warranty Purchase 7 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Much has been said about Warranties - what they cover / do not cover. My experience was it did not cover what went wrong BUT Is there warranty cover available where you take the first say £250 of the claim? i.e. If you have a car you expect bills - a few Hundred pounds is not unsual but where it really hurts is if on a 3/4/5 year old car the Engine goes bang, the auto box refuses to change up/down, the ABS Pump does not.
  • Breakdown Cover (again!) 24 May 2025 (Forum)
I was quite happy to renew when on the payment page I noticed a cross next to the ‘cover for cars over 15 years old’. I clicked on this and it added cover for cars over 15 years old (the MX5 is 21) and suddenly the annual price changed from £59 to £75.  Is this a new thing with Autoaid?
  • Recommend car cover (Saloon) 17 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Any recommendations? Turn out the car may spend a lot of time sat on the driveway now (Possible new job), so I might as well cover it up, keep bird droppings etc off it.
  • Car cover for a Caterham 7 6 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Can anyone suggest where I can get a good quality car cover (weather protection ) for a Caterham 7 without having to go to Caterham and pay their ever so slightly over the top price.
  • New cars + cover notes 20 Jun 2001 (Forum)
Hiya, I'm in the process of buying a new car, and the dealer called me with the registration plate details for the insurance and so on. They insisted that the insurance cover note be sent direct to them, and not to me. Is this standard practice for the cover note to go straight to the dealer - and if so, why?
  • Legal Cover 8 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Renewal time again, and I was just looking at the cost of the Legal Cover. At £27 for the year, this sounds quite expensive and I expect there's a company out there selling stand alone cover for considerably less....I just can't find it ! Ideally, there would be a combined product that would cover all 3 cars in our household.

  • Stone chip covers 6 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Does anybody know of any UK companies that do those front car covers that protect from stone chips ? I have seen them on American cars but can find no one to supply them for UK cars. Thanks
  • Breakdown cover 3 Dec 2003 (Forum)
At the moment I buy this through my motor insurer, for which I pay somewhere in the region of £15-20, if memory serves me right, which I will dump when renewal comes around. They don't do personal cover like AA/RAC, i.e it is the car that is covered not me, so if you drive more than one mode of transport e.g. car and motorbike (not at the same time!) you may be better off elsewhere.
  • Car stuck in drain on driveway this morning! 15 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I had to claim on my car insurance to get the car recovered and taken to a garage for inspection. That's a nice £175 excess too. Looks like it's not covered by the water board as it's on my property, and also it's not even covered by the drains and plumbing insurance I have because my car caused the cover to break.
  • Insurance cover for a third car 15 Apr 2003 (Forum)
My wife and I both have cars each with our own separate insurance policies. I would like to buy an additional car to use occasionally, say for commuting (Max.8000 miles pa). What's the most cost effective way of getting insurance cover for this car?
  • partial car covers 4 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Seen them at a car dealers to keep bird crap off the paintwork. Consists of two sections: one for the roof, one for the bonnet Any idea where to get them? I don't want to lug a full cover around when visiting campsites.
  • Car Covers: legal? 19 Jan 2004 (Forum)
For a couple of weeks now there's been an S-Type Jaguar parked in my street completely covered. I don't blame the owner for wanting to keep the frost off but is it legal to hide the number plates and tax disc of a car parked on the public road?
  • Legal cover on car policies 10 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi Back Roomers, I was just wondering whether everyone bothers with legal cover on their insurance policies or not? Every year it seems to go up another £5 odd (now £25 on the policy I have just purchased) and it seems I have it on 2 car policies (1 in my name and 1 in the wife's), legal cover on the home insurance policy etc etc.

  • Cheapest Breakdown Cover wanted 4 Jul 2007 (Forum)
She does not venture out of town or on motorway. Her annual mileage is less than 4k. Looking for a reliable but cheap breakdown cover. Looking for prices for - 1. Cover that transports her and her car to her destination or home. 2. Cover that covers the above and also home start. Was wondering if there will be a cheaper supplier for her.
  • wheel covers 27 Sep 2006 (Forum)
does any body know why wheel covers seem to be always coloured silver, only just bought a black car, thought black covers would suit better, espiecally given that they get filthy black from brake dust.

  • AA cover 9 May 2003 (Forum)
I am just about to renew my breakdown recovery insurance. AA comes in about £85. I like this kind of cover because it can be used for my car or my motorbike, but does anyone know a cheaper provider of equivalent cover?
