Hiya,
I'm in the process of buying a new car, and the dealer called me with the registration plate details for the insurance and so on. They insisted that the insurance cover note be sent direct to them, and not to me.
Is this standard practice for the cover note to go straight to the dealer - and if so, why? A couple of friends I've spoken to said they've never heard of things being done this way before...
Cheers for any advice,
Sam

This is needed by the dealer in order to tax the car.
Don't worry about it.
What kind of car is it ?

Yes - this is standard practice - it saves you - the prospective owner - a trip into the dealers to physically take the certificate into them. We're trying to make YOUR life easier!!

Thanks for the explanation - all makes perfect sense now!

Whether it goes direct or not, if the dealer is going to tax the car he must produce the certificate to get a tax disc. Howevr, he can't insist on it going direct, but one way or another it's got to be given to him, and sending it direct is probably the easiest way.
