  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0 failure for engine to start 20 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The following morning the car would not start and showed no response when the engine was turning over (the battery is in good order). We have had a couple of small garages trying to start the car and they have spent many hours testing and adjustments. They have even tried new injectors to no effect. Have you any advise as to what the problem might be?
  • Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 06 2 Electronic Handbrake Towing issues 19 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Hi there, I'm a new member with an issue regarding the Electronic hand brake on my C-Max. I've recently had the Alternator go which has then cause the battery to die and after taking it to a very unhelpful garage (no courtesy car and a 1 MONTH window for fixing it) I'm going to be forced to jump start it and drive it back to the other ford dealer, where I brought it, so I can have a car during Christmas.
  • Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 97 1.2 poor running, then won't start - now solved 16 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The car very quickly was running badly, cut out when idling, and finally refused to start. It was full of good fuel, and had good battery etc. It was towed to my indy, who found a load of faults in the memory, finally managed to clear the memory, and then started looking at the faults that appeared. The plugs were very badly damaged, and were replaced.

  • Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 03 2.2 Diesel non starter after a couple of days 2 Sep 2008 (Forum)
However, just recently, if I leave it a couple of days, (on level ground) it turns over lovely (it has a new battery) but wont fire up. The only way to get it to go is to use easy start, fire it up where its running roughly, stop, leave it 15 mins then it starts 1st time. If I use it daily, the next day it starts 1st time no problem, it only appears to be when its been left a couple of days, can you point me as to what may be wrong please?
  • Six month lay-up 6 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I'll over inflate the tyres. Leave the handbrake off, in gear with a brick under one wheel as the ground slopes. Disconnect battery? I assume it'll go flat otherwise with residual current drawn for clock, immobiliser, alarm etc. Spray around engine compartment with WD40 as a rodent deterrent. Any advice, comments, additions or deletions to the above?

  • Land Rover Defender (1946 - ) - 1989, 2.5 Turbo Diesel, Starting problems 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Hiya, My old Land Rover's not starting! I have plenty of battery and fuel, but when I turn the key I get a single click and then nothing. It doesn't even try and turn over. A couple of days ago when I was starting it up in the morning it gave a high pitched whirr without turning over, but when I tried again it started normally.
  • BMW - 03 1.8ti - key fob problem 8 May 2008 (Forum)
On visiting friends I found that the key fob buttons would not operate the locking and unlocking system. It was as though the key battery had gone flat after a 15 minute drive. However the key still locked and unlocked the car manually and the car operated normally. My friend who owns two Series 3 BMWs, then said that since he had moved onto Canvey Island (in Essex) a year ago, had experienced the same problem in both cars on different occasions.
  • Honda Civic UK (2001 - 2005) - 53 1.6 SRS Fault 15 Apr 2008 (Forum)
It has always been serviced at a main dealer. Recently the SRS light on the dash came on. I tried resetting it through disconnecting the battery for a few hours, as I read on one website, but the light stayed on. After taking it to the garage, it appears the Internal SRS Control Unit has failed, which can be replaced for a cost of £523.38.
  • Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 02 1.2 Won't start/turn over 14 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Hi, please can some one help, this is my girlfriends car, got in it to go to work, all lights come on dash etc then the relevant warning light go off as normal, go to start the car and nothing happens at all. doesn't turn over what so ever or even make a sound. immobiliser light isnt on but im guessing this would be the problem? had a new starter motor last year and a new battery 2 years ago, so fairly sure it wouldn't be that? can any one please help? Thanks, Luke Luke seeing as the requests we make about year and engine size are so vague, I've altered this one for you !
  • Renault Clio II (1998 - 2001) - 00 1.4 SI engine starts and then cuts out 7 Feb 2008 (Forum)
If I leave it for a bit it will start and then cut out again, then it will just turn over and not start, so I keep leaving it and trying again later until maybe it will start or flatten the battery, once it does start it seems ok and seems to start ok if the engine is still warm each time you try to start it, if it starts it seems to last a fraction longer before it cuts out My wife has only had the car for two weeks and the fault has only just occured.
  • Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 2005 1.6 Petrol Zetec Jump leads connected wrongly 26 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Hiya, friend has the above C Max and car wouldn't start. She suspected flat battery so tried jump starting it off other car but smoke appeared so she stopped and called AA. AA realised that she had connected jump leads up the wrong way round and a fuse had blown. He got car started OK but suggested it goes straight to a garage to make sure nothing has been damaged due to connecting the leads up incorrectly.
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - (95-99) 1.8 diesel endura electrical problem 24 Jan 2008 (Forum)
hi hope someone can help, my battery has been draining flat if left for day and half, traced it to the top right fuse in under steering fuse box, when puting a fuse with a bulp on im getting a pulsing bulb?..........thing that makes this even more strange is the radio is on the same fuse, its not supposed to be going by the fuse box lid, any idea what this fuse is for?
  • Vauxhall Corsa D (2006 - ) - 2007 1.2 - Courtesy lights stay on when locking 28 Nov 2007 (Forum)
The courtesy lights stay on after locking and also at time when driving the car. To avoid draining the battery (there are 4 footwell and three sets of overhead lights) I've removed the fuse. Since the car was delivered the double locking system has been erratic sometimes refusing to double lock but the lighting problem indicates something that needs attention.
  • '03 Passat electrics problem 28 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Could it be connected to the water problem? I wondered if the voltage to the electrics was dropping too low (battery problem) but the engine seems to turn over and start ok. thanks for your help. Rob
  • Road pricing is inevitable if...... 13 Jul 2007 (Forum)
VED is just a tax on possession, so I don't think could be morally justified at the level that would be needed to replace fuel duties. So if battery packs get better, get used to the idea coming to a road near you.
  • Loss of power steering Octavia 1.9 TDi 26 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Was driving to work this morning when, having braked reasonably sharply, I discovered upon moving off again that I had lost power steering and the battery light on the dashboard was illuminated. A quick check under the bonnet didn't reveal anything obvious and as I was only half a mile from work I thought that I'd drive the rest of the way, which I did without steering assistance.
  • G Whizz crash safety scare. 11 May 2007 (Forum)
They are classed as quadracylcles (4-wheel bikes) as long as they are less than a certain weight (without batteries) - hence their light build - hence their poor crash safety. But as they are now seen as an alternative to cars, especially in London, the DoT thinks they might have to meet car crash test standards.
