At the same time the tyre is wearing, the rolling resistance of the tyre is improving, which means that if you remove the tyre at 3mm instead of 1.6mm you are not going to use the tyre at its best, and [that] has an impact on fuel economy, degrades it, and creates more CO2.

"I couldn't believe the saving. Even when you factor in the flights, fuel, return ferry and tax, which you have to pay when you register the car in Southern Ireland, it was still nearly 8,000 Euros cheaper. • Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI up for auction 3 Oct 2017 (News)
The original, duck-tailed, right-hand drive 2.7 Carrera MFI, one of 1011 examples made in 1974, was bought by David Pattison of PCT Porsche Specialists in 1982, having been originally supplied to the UK through Malaya garage in Sussex in January 1974. G-series MFIs are in demand thanks to the Bosch fuel injected 2.7-litre engines, which are noted for their instant throttle response and howling soundtrack – things that were arguably lost in the switch to computer-controlled injection systems. Previously owned by Nick Faure, a noted Porsche racer and factory driver of the day, the Porsche had covered just 59,960 miles from new when it changed hands, making Mr Pattison the car’s third owner. During his ownership of 35 years, Mr Pattison cherished and maintained the car himself at PCT, including subjecting it to a strip down and overhaul of both the engine and the gearbox.
