BMW 5-Series E60 (2003 - 2009) - 2006 2.0 Non existent Diagnostics 22 Mar 2012 (Forum)
He tried to start it and thank goodness it was still exhibiting the failures. He plugged in the diagnostics and although the car was struggling to start and was reporting failures to me there was no communication with my car from his laptop!!! The BMW man said "I've seen this before", popped the bonnet up, pulled all the plastic covers out, pulled out a relay, put in a new one then the car started perfectly normally. -
KIA Sorento SUV (2003 - 2009) - Kia Sorento Manual Gearbox Failure at 60k miles 21 Feb 2011 (Forum)
He managed to get the tyres on the car to last to 50,000 miles! I don't feel that it is reasonable to have to replace a gearbox on a five-year old, 60,000 mile, Kia serviced car. Although it does get used for towing, it doesn't do a big mileage pulling the 'van and it's not a big 'van for the size of car. -
Mazda CX-5 Sport Nav 2016 - Serious battery issue after having car service 22 Oct 2019 (Forum)
On Monday of last week I had a 3 year service, Mazda Infotainment update and safety recall inspection carried out by my local Mazda Dealer on my 2016 CX-5 with 35k on the clock, all seemed to be OK and I took out a service plan with them. Two days later my wife called me to say that the car was completely dead and she had arranged for her Companies maintenance dept. to send a mechanic, on opening the bonnet his first words were "there's your problem" the negative battery connection was loose, on opening the positive cover this was also loose. -
Help with car purchased and huge bill! 5 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Hi there. I have been sent here via a recommendation from another forum. Basically, I purchased a used car (Clio Sport) from a independant dealer last weekend. One of the conditions of the deal was to change the cambelt / tensioners, as they needed changing due to the car being 5 years old. They agreed to do this so I went ahead with the sale. -
VW Golf GT TDI 9 Aug 2005 (Forum)
After 3 days, the car came back and the door were still massively out of alignment. The VW garage, said they would get me another car. In March, the new one came. Initially, there was a problem with the centre console cover, which was badly marked. -
Insuring the Car - young new driver 16 Jul 2003 (Forum)
After buying a car for her use, I do feel that she has to be on her own at some stage. Anyway - I have found out that Tesco car insurance will let me have a second car discount and take my own NCD on my other car, into account (without giving it up on my vehicle) Stand alone quotes for the 'Princess' come out about £1450 pa, but this one is £698.25, all they require is an original letter from my own insurer confirming the NCD. -
Honda CRV - Issues with used car from large dealer chain 29 Sep 2018 (Forum)
I'm pretty experienced buying, selling and owning all sorts of cars but wonder on the best and most sensible course of action. I'm certainly not happy that letting a warranty policy cover point of sale issues is the right way to proceed. -
n/a - possibly scratched a car, didn't leave details 17 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Several seconds of staring at the corner of the car, I thought -- "hey, i actually don't see any scratches" -- which was followed by, "I guess I can just go catch my train..." So I got in the car, and drove away, without leaving a note, without taking pictures, and without noting the car or its number plate. -
SAAB 9-3 (2002 - 2007) - 2003 2.2 TID - loss of power 25 Feb 2014 (Forum)

Citroen C5 2.0HDI 110LX 2002 '52' Auto 80,000miles - Possible head damage 23 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Hi there guys, I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding what could possibly be wrong with my car... a few days ago, on my short drive to work, the engine started making some strange noises. Nothing too loud or severe, but noticeable. I continued to work, and turned off the engine. The car would then not restart at all. -
What's with these traffic lights? 23 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The picture shows the junction and I have circled the lights. In the picture I would have been the white car in the centre, waiting behind the silver car that is turning right. http://www.flickr.com/photos/43786777@N06/4035047389/sizes/l/in/set-72157622517247333/ The photo below shows more of the junction: http://www.flickr.com/photos/43786777@N06/4035046587/sizes/l/in/set-72157622517247333/ The problem was that the lights I have circled were not showing any lights (I don't know if the green was switched off or whether it was completely covered by the "blind" over it). -

Then told the timing belt has gone and it has caused £1,500 worth of damage to the engine. -
Legal experience sought 15 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Took my car for MOT. The garage ran me back to the office with me as passenger and I hopped out. Came to pick up car day later, paid the bill for minor work turned key and realised immediately there was a serious gearbox problem. -
Nissan X-Trail - Dealer hiding MoT Advisories 10 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Hello. I wanted to find out what anyone thinks of my next step buying a pre-owned vehicle from Westwood Car and Commercial in Kent last year. At the time of buying the car, I hadn't owned a car for several years and was unaware of the 'new look' MoT certificiates. So, when I paid for the car, the paperwork was handed over to me as normal with a fresh MoT certificate as promised by the dealer. -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 2002 1.6 Full Beam issue, now disabled on car 10 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Removing the fuse box cover only found the fuse pattern to be numbered requiring the manual to correspond to the fuses, which I did not have in my car. So starting at the top, the best thing I could do is remove the 5&10amp fuses one by one in a trial and error experiment to stop the battery going flat on me. -
22% of 3-year old UK cars fail their first MOT 9 May 2008 (Forum)
Do manufacturers' service schedules not cover all the points needed to pass a MoT test - if not, why?" [G] And finally: "Are high failure rates down to motorists failing to maintain their cars properly?" First-time MoT failure rates (2007), supplied by VOSA In 2007, 21.6 per cent (580,754) of three-year old cars failed their first test. -
Safety conscious? Riding vs driving 1 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I do my best to keep safety uppermost in my driving behaviour and be conscious of how I'm "managing" the car. Since starting to ride, I have come to realise just how removed from the driving environment the car makes me. I'm much, much more conscious of the road surface, potholes, drain covers, road repairs, gravel and mud when on the bike. -
Do we molly-coddle cars ? 12 Dec 2002 (Forum)
-this oil rather than that oil. -special petrol. -supermarket vs main garage petrol. -always warming the car up when you start it before you switch it off again. And it goes on........ -this was or that wax -this bulb or that bulb -endless additives Well, not me. My cars get serviced when something doesn't work or they don't run right; they get an oil change if and when they get a service; virtually any noise can be ignored or covered by increased cd player volume and you get used to it in time anyway; the brake discs would need to be in pieces before they got renewed; the punctured tyre gets replaced on its own, the others can get used to it and who gives a stuff what angle the steering wheel is at as long as the thing goes in straight lines, except when you would prefer it turned corners; as long as the car is level and not making bangs, then the suspension is clearly ok; if it gets a wash, which frankly isn't that likely, it'll get the nearest, convenient automatic car wash and be grateful for it; it gets petrol from whichever pump I stopped next to from whichever gas station I happened to be near when the fuel light started flashing; and if I need to start it cold, move it 2 ft and switch it off again it can damn well get over itself and start again when I need it whether the cat likes it or not. -

Citroen C3 - EGR Valve and engine diagnositcs 5 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Can anyone help with ideas or suggestions as to how to fault find the real issue and not just replace parts? I've had the car about two months and it's covered 55k. Has a warranty with Warranty Wise but they don't want to know. Thanks in advance, Talkingheads
