Head Gasket 22 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I have a K reg Renault Clio thats covered a pretty good milage at just over 90k but my garage tells me that the cylinder head gasket has blown which certainly accounts for the coolant loss and the oil like mayonnaise! The rest of the car is in pretty good condition but I'm wondering if it is worth getting the head off(beyond my competence by a long way), getting a rebuilt engine or just getting it crushed. -
Renauklt Laguna 2002- Engine Probs 12 Nov 2002 (Forum)
My friend has a 2002 Renault Laguna DCI and everytime he goes through a puddle or the weather is particulary wet, the engine starts playing up (loses power and starts 'chugging'). The dash reports an injector problem. I seem to remember a few years ago that some french diesel engines had the air intake at the bottom and hoovered up any water, straight into the engine. -
New braking system 25 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Claims are better heat dissipation, higher strength and reduced noise and vibration. Also lower pressures needed giving more flexibility and ability to use brake by wire system. Renault are looking at this quite seriously apparently. -
gizmos and gadgets 17 Apr 2001 (Forum)
I had a rare night tonight in front of the telly with a few beers and I have a recollection of an advert for a Renault which would tell you if your tyres were soft. On the Mercedes Actros HGV units you can call up a display which will tell you exactly how much oil you need to add or remove to bring the oil level in the engine to within normal limits. -
New car- commuting 30 Oct 2024 (Forum)

Nissan Qashqai / Ford Kuga - Kuga or Qashqai 27 Apr 2016 (Forum)
Anyone any opinions on Qashqais or Kugas? Qashqai gets good reviews but diesels look underpowered to me? also think they are Renault engines which I had bad experiences with in the past. Kuga looks perhaps less sophisticated but based on Focus should be strong and reliable? Looking to spend around 20k on something new or nearly new. -

Kia CEe'd SW - Buying a new(er) diesel car 15 Nov 2011 (Forum)
I have an 08 reg diesel Renault and would like to buy a 59 or 10 reg to replace it possibly with a Kia Ceed SW but........I don't want one fitted with a particulate filter as my motoring wouldn't keep it clean enough. So my question is is there a date when all diesels were fitted with a filter or is it a case of asking every time? -
"Collision" drama on ITV1 9.00pm Monday 9 November 22 Dec 2009 (Forum)
There are more true-to-life police cars in The Bill. The "collision" hasn't happened on-screen yet, but I'm willing to bet it will rival Marcus's Renault A610 exploding in El Dorado for realism... -
Zafira / Touran and others - ownership 3 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Both the Opel Zafira and Volkswagen Touran have reasonable new car offers on them at the moment, undercutting the likes of renault / citroen / ford / peugeot / etc and making them the cheapest 'proper' 7 seater cars on the market. I just wondered what they were like for daily familly use, reliability, servicing, etc. Expecting to do around 15k miles per annum and own the car for 5 years. -
£2k Budget Recommend a 7 Seater? 31 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Would appreciate if anyone could recommend a decent 7 Seater or at a push a smaller MPV for example a Renault Scenic. Got £2000 budget. Always liked the Honda Shuttle but put off my economy around town etc and apparent high insurance bracket. Had 7 seater 4x4s in the past but do not want to go down that route again. -
Cornwall tomorrow 9 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I've come to check my 'Just off the Motorway' type book for places to stop, and found that thanks to the gibbons that design/build Renaults, what I have is a soggy mess ! It's a bit late to try and get another copy (and I bet it's one book you'll never find on sale in a Motorway Service station) so if anyone has any suggestions for places to stop for refreshment south of Strensham onwards, it would be greatly appreciatied. -
SEAT Ibiza II (1999 - 2002) - 52 1.4 Electric window mechanism 11 Jun 2008 (Forum)
My daughters Ibiza has today had a second window motor fail in 4 weeks again with the window stuck in the open position and its due to rain tonight! Any thoughts of repairs that are cheaper than dealer. I have had one fail on a Renault and know of others with similar tales with varying makes all being left with a window stuck down. -
where to buy a reconditioned gearbox? 25 May 2007 (Forum)
as above, could someone advise some trustworthy companies to source a gearbox from for a 1999 volvo s40. it's a 2litre 16v petrol with the renault m5p box fitted. it has been jumping out of 5th gear regularly and after alot of time trying to adjust the linkage and replacing bushes. etc. ive concluded it must be an internal box problem which isn't unheard of with this box. -
Will the Prius start to pay now 14 Dec 2006 (Forum)
There has been allot of deate on motoring and business forums about the real green attributes of the Prius and how it is probably costing Toyota to sell them. Nissan (and presumably Renault later) are now paying Toyota under licence to use their hybrid technology. Will the Prius turn out to be one of those long term decisions that Toyota are so good at (usually after they have been criticised for doing someting such as the Prius) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6168745.stm I wonder who will be next ? -
05 Clio Seat Adjustment 29 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Does anyone know if there is an easy adjustment to release this ? Or is it another dreaded visit to a disinterested Renault dealer ? -
Transporting washing machines 10 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Now the real question, would it be okay to cary them in a car? Will it destroy the rear suspension? It would be either a 91 Renault 19 or a 98 Escort estate. -
