We'll be heading down the M6/M5/A30 to Redruth tomorrow.
I've come to check my 'Just off the Motorway' type book for places to stop, and found that thanks to the gibbons that design/build Renaults, what I have is a soggy mess !
It's a bit late to try and get another copy (and I bet it's one book you'll never find on sale in a Motorway Service station) so if anyone has any suggestions for places to stop for refreshment south of Strensham onwards, it would be greatly appreciatied.

Junction immediately south of Strensham is Tewkesbury - pleasant enough country town, but not touristy, so probably not too busy.
The place was ripped to bits by the floods, so no doubt they'd appreciate some of your hard-earned as much as anybody.

When I travel on the M5 I usually stop at the Morrisons superstore just a couple of minutes off the motorway towards Tewkesbury town centre.
We always try to find a supermarket with a cafe if we're on a long journey. Others may have more sophisticated tastes but I find their breakfasts perfectly acceptable, convenient and good value.

Ikea offers even better value, especially if you are a Family Card holder (anyone can be, just fill the form out).
We were in there last Monday - two decent cooked breakfasts (bacon, omelette, sausage, beans), one tea, one coffee - £1.98. The drinks were free as were unlimted refills!

I take it you've been to Cornwall before bora, once you get on the A30 it'll be plain sailing to Redruth on a Wednesday (famous last words!) you'll be spoilt for choice Re: places to stop for refreshment but ... There is always The Jamaica Inn @ Bolventor to relieve you of a large chunk of wedge!

didn't they get done by the health inspectors recently? Though if they did they'll be on their toes so yopu'll be ok!

The Brewers Arms in Banwell, near Weston-super-Mare provided very good food and a respite from motorway driving - a fortuitous find on the way down, and of course the Robin Hood near J5 on the M5 on the way back - I recommend the steak sandwich
The beers in both looked good..... :-(

I have only ever been there for a funeral reception though seemed a nice pub, and it is not exactly just off the M5 also Banwell can be a tortuous place to get through, did you stay there or just eat?
We were heading back up from Cornwall on the 3rd, the day you were going down, and the roads were clear though the previous week, as we headed down there were big northbound queues.

We just ate - found it by accident, we didn't have any guidebook, so just pull off the M5 at the Weston junction and drive round aimlessly whilst arguing whose idea was it and suggesting that as I was driving and she knew where we were and had the map,(and yes, it was her idea) she might like to make some constructive input as to where to head for
The pub was empty when we arrived and I did wonder if they'd be doing food (It is a bit out of the way :-)), and they were. 9/10 for the BLT baguettes. I noticed 'Doom Bar' on draught, which I subsequently found to be admirably refreshing
