I got the Vectra 3.2 - happy so far 12 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I'm wondering whether I can get the insruance retrospectively... :-) However initially I am going to talk to the salesman and suggest the car wasn't fully 114 point checked before delivery... Off to Huddersfield tonight so first long run (if you exclude collection from Luton). -
Honda Accord i-CDTI Oil & Filter Change 9 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, I have an 05 model Accord with the i-cdti diesel engine and I'd like to perform an interim oil change. Having only ever worked/changed the oil on cars fitted with the single screw-on metal can arrangement, I could do with a little reassurance that the replacement will be as obvious as my dealer suggests when I get it to bits! The replacement oil filter box contains the paper filter element but also comes with 3 o-ring seals. -
Renault Clio 1.5 Dci smoking 14 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Not knowing much about these Dci diesels, anyone out there know if these cars suffer gasket failure Cheers, Andrew -
Insurance write off 13 Jan 2006 (Forum)
A colleague has just had his car written off in accident which is indisputably the fault of the other driver. (A post office van, turning right across his path into a minor road). My understanding is that his claim should be settled in such a way that he is no worse off after the event, ie the amount that should be paid should purchase from a trade source a similar vehicle with a similar history. -
Audi A6 Refurbish or replace ? 5 Jan 2006 (Forum)
As I've reported before, I bought my A6 2.8 quattro new in 2000, since when it has covered fewer than 25,000 miles as it's driven only at weekends. It's been faithfully maintained beyond the schedule. Six years on I've been toying with the idea of getting one of the new A6s, the 3.0Tdi quattro. -
Xantia Rear Doors Not Opening. :( 30 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Hi, My rear doors have stopped opening. They started one at a time, i.e. one would stick and the door would remain as if locked when the car was unlocked. Then it would open normally one day and break again the next. Now both door won't open at all. I thought it might be electrical but even manually unlocking the door doesn't do it and besides the locking button on the door moves with the central locking. -
1.8 Focus fuel consumption 11 Aug 2003 (Forum)
A 2.0 with Cat then followed which did typically 8m/l (36mpg) then a Vectra with between 30 - 34 mpg and now a focus with 30 -33mpg. The focus is a nearly new model bought from the local Ford dealer and has covered 6k miles. The tail pipe looks quite black and in the good old days of carburetters I would be looking to make some adjustments. The car appears to warm up very quickly and drives perfectly well. -
Check your nuts 11 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Yesterday when pulling up outside the house the Girlfriend informed me of a rattle from one of the wheels. When I checked Two of the wheel nuts were rattleing around behind the covers of my alloys. I was not able to hear the noise from inside the car so God knows how long ago they came out. I cursed myself as I would usually check the wheel nuts a week after getting any work done that requires the removal of the wheels, but with Christmas... -
Sat Nav a gimmick? 3 Oct 2002 (Forum)
One down side I did notice was the fitting which was done professionally, was that when the screen deployed, it appeared to cover the heater controls such that you couldn't get at them! -

hassles buying a car 27 Jul 2001 (Forum)
And I?d need to get an insurance certificate insuring the car over the last few days of July. Having rang the insurance company they quite reasonably want 10.50 a day for having 2 cars covered (I?d still have the part ex until the handover). Rang Toyota garage back and they said ? -
Advice needed re accident claim 16 Feb 2009 (Forum)
The police came the following day and took a brief statement from my son and did a pnc check on the other car that came back not at the house he took me too ... surprise, surprise. Obviously and with the police advise we then had to advise my sons insurance of the RTA who arranged to have my sons car taken to be repaired and a curtosy car dropped off. -
Land Rover Range Rover Sport - is the least reliable car to buy for the 2nd year 14 Nov 2019 (Forum)
More than half of the owners who completed Which?'s survey said their car had suffered at least one fault in the last 12 months. These problems weren't minor niggles either. Some 7 per cent had issues with the engine management system, which can be a serious - and pricey - fault to fix. -
Vauxhall Insignia CDTI - DMF on Insignia - Vauxhall wont reply!! 6 Sep 2016 (Forum)
The DMF is hanging on by a thread, the thing sounds awful and I’m worried that it is now damaging the gearbox. The car has only covered 40k and has dealer stamps for every service bang on schedule. I feel that a DMF failure at 40k is not really good enough - the car is immaculate inside and out and has never been spared a penny. -
Italian Driving Fines...what to do? 13 Jul 2015 (Forum)
All I can recollect about the car I rented was that it was a White small sized car. I returned the car on the 30th at Venice Airport, from where I flew back home. -
Peugeot 308 - Wide range of rear tyre pressures 15 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Peugeot in turn do not answer technical queries on their helpline, referring me to the dealer... All the dealer has to offer is the published information. Since one is often alone in the car, but rarely fully laden, and frequently with apart load that can be anywahere between these two extremes - does anyone have a practical solution to cover most normal use without endlessly changing tyre pressures? -
Toyota Avensis - 1.8 V-Matic thoughts/opinions 21 Apr 2014 (Forum)
The car also used for family holidays etc. Speed and handling not so much of an issue these days. My budget - £8,000 (key factors: cost of ownership, reliability and comfort) My previous car (Nissan Primera Sport only cost me £4000 and lasted 9 trouble free years doing 115K miles under my ownership). -
Ford 2011 Zetec Mondeo 140 tdci - Ford Mondeo 2011- Engine malfunction light!! 24 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Fords cleared the fault, and for about 1,000 miles the car drove really well. At about 20,000 miles the car reverted to driving as before. Only this time the hesitation was gone, but the thrust in acceleration has returned. In addition, when this thrust in acceleration comes, so too does the engine malfunction light. -
Convince me! 18 May 2012 (Forum)
Now - My Toyota has been standing for the past 4 months, and apart from charging up the battery, there is not a single problem with it - and its covered 190k. That's the kind of car I want - it'll get me from A to B, get about 34mpg from a petrol Auto, and seat 5 in comfort. All things a 10 year old Carina can manage easily. I couldn't really care less about image (I'm just not going to buy a Ford or Vauxhall), I just want a car that has all these features. -
Sale of Goods Act 1979 "warranty" questions 25 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Hi I'm got some fairly basic Sale of good act 1979 warranty questions about a second hand car purchase. I purchased a Volkswagen Passat TDI estate 2 and a half months ago from a car dealer. The car has since developed a hot start issue that prevents the car from starting if it's been recently run and the engine is hotter than 60.
