  • Renault Espace (1997 - 2002) - 02 2.2 DCI difficult starting 16 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I reasoned that maybe the same sensor was misleading the ECU? Anyway, as autumn approached these sypmtoms eased, and at the next service (non-Renault!) I asked them to replace the glowplugs. I did this because on our previous Mk3 Espace (2.2dt), this made a huge difference to starting. However, in this case, it made no difference at all. The problem of difficult starting has now evolved into the car becoming either OK (starts first time) or a complete pain (lots of churning, chugs a bit, dies, try again etc.) - and the mystery is that this now appears completely random!
  • Renault - Trafic 115 dci SWB 2008 15 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Cab is pretty standard, infact much of the controls remind me of a mid-90's Clio - they feel quite fragile but essentially work ( aside from a couple of electrical bits ). There is even an outside temp gauage but being a Renault, it permanatly reads between -1 and -3, so its useless of course. Driving position is OK, could be better if they made more adjustment for the steering wheel, passenger seats are good though and there is enough space for two reasonable sized people and the dashboard mounted gearlever makes for plenty of legroom for middle passenger.
  • Citroen C5 II (2008 - ) - C5 Impressions after four months. 3 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I bought a C5 station wagon 2.0 HDI auto at the beginning of June (in Spain). I've done 3,500 miles, a mixture of town driving and a number of 200 - 300 mile runs. I had a Renault 21 and a Laguna II, both petrol, before the C5 and can confidently say that the C5 is by far the quietest (from inside the car). I really feel it's a big step up from the Renaults. Drives beautifully.
  • Renault Laguna (1994 - 2001) - HGF and what next ? 26 May 2009 (Forum)
The London contingent headed off for Bridlington instead of Harrogate; the Australian contingent (including his daughter) had problems with flights, hospitals and Customs, and when they finally got where they were going, one of them smashed his mother's car on the way to collect his daughter; stepbrother's intended was hopelessly late to pick up I forget whom because his (stepbrother's) '97 Renault Laguna boiled over; when stepbrother and intended finally landed at the hotel where the ceremony was, there was no record of his booking a room for the night of his own wedding. Are you following this ?
  • Volvo 1970 - 1993 - Ex Volvo Head for 20+ years dies @ 89 10 Dec 2024 (Forum)
Chief executive from 1971 and chairman from 1983 to 1993 – Volvo’s cars maintained a high reputation as a symbol of Swedish manufacturing quality. Backed a merger with Renault in 1993 - this failed and resigned.
  • Any - the ugly stick 9 Dec 2023 (Forum)
Noticed how well received the latest Suzuki Swift has been among a few of us here, not exactly enthralled by its looks, someone mentioned the Renault Laguna and how facelifts can sometimes be to a model's detriment. Taken to extremes these facelifts can lead to the ending of what where up to then well loved long lived cars, the one that springs immediately to mind is Granada morphing into Scorpio, looks only a mother could love.
  • All - How many car diesel engine manufacturers? 16 Oct 2013 (Forum)
There seem to be about 4 types, 1.6, 2, 2.2 and 3 litre engines fitted (excluding some smaller ones). How many manufacturers are there of these 4 sizes. Do Audi, Renault/Nissan, Mercedes, BMW, Citroen/Peugeot, Fiat, Ford, Jaguar/Land Rover, VW/Seat, Honda, Chrysler, Toyota, Hyundai etc all make their own?   If not, from whom do they buy the engine?

  • Jaguar F type - Jaguar F Type's pram hood 5 Apr 2012 (Forum)
So sad to see that they have not gone for a folding metal roof which are so much better than old pram hoods.   Merc, Audi, Beemer and many others, even the MX5 and Renault have folding tin tops.   Do not undersatnd why Jaguar have stook with the hood off an old pram !   Hill Special
  • Large MPV Recommendations 30 Sep 2011 (Forum)
We will be doing around 15k a year and budget is up to around £8k but if we can get something cheaper then all the better. Current favourite is the Seat Alhambra. We currently own a Renault Grand Scenic that has turned into a money-pit so please don't suggest another one of those horrors! Thanks.
  • New company car 30 Jan 2010 (Forum)
The only thing I'm after is a bit of poke. Here are my restrictions: diesel under 20,000 miles under 16k new under 10k now not a Renault!?! 2.0 or under I don't do that many miles so not too bothered about MPG. I'm currently driving a seat Ibiza FR tdi.
  • Electric parking brakes and the driving test 3 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I'm sure I have read somewhere that an 'L' driver cannot take the DSA driving test in a car fitted with an 'automatic release' electric parking brake (eg some Renaults, Citroens, etc) because of the way in which these brakes simplify a hill start. You just press the pedal and go. I can find no reference to this on the DSA website, however. Can anyone confirm this please -- if it is so, I would apreciate chapter and verse.
  • Do people really care about warranty? 9 Aug 2008 (Forum)
articleid=17852 Kia and Hyundai's market share (based on no of cars sold in July 2008) % are 1.47 and 1.30 respectively. Compared to, Ford 15%, Vauxhall 14%, VW 8%, BMW/Peugeot/Toyota/Renault/Audi all hovering around 5% Citoren [3.74%] sold more than Mercedes [3.38%] I don't know how fleet sales can skew the numbers though.
  • Scenic - Faulty Trip Meter. 9 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Hi My Renault scenic has recently had a new alternator belt fitted, prior to this the electrics were playing up and the car became difficult to start. All this has now resolved except for the trip metre re-setting itself to zero every 5-6 start of the engine.
  • Nissan Note Automatic 15 May 2007 (Forum)
In last Saturdays D T . HJ referred to the Nissan Note was fitted with a Renault 4 speed Auto gearbox and said that it may give problems after three to four years use. How many miles would one expect to cover in this time and what sort of problems would be expected? I have only covered 2K milesand am very pleased with the vehicle but reading this comment gives me cause for concern. i would appreciate your comments.
  • Clio oil filter question ? 24 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Having a few months ago come across two different oil filter specs and sizes for the same Focus when changing the oil for my mother-in-law, today I bought a filter from a Renault dealer for the wife's Clio, it is about 2/3 the size of every other one that has been fitted to the car though is categorically the right one according to the dealer, the spec has changed they say, it is a '98 1.6 RXE manual.
  • Brakes...... 15 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I am about to buy new discs and pads front and rear for my Renault Laguna MK ii Tourer. Today I spent 30 minutes ring different factors and suppliers such as Eurocarparts and well as the main dealer for prices the question is assuming all products are sold to a minimum standard (I think its CE marking ) then what is the difference between a set of £16 front pads and ones at £46.
  • Third year warranty work 18 Nov 2006 (Forum)
The dealer that is doing the warranty work is not the dealer I bought it from. So who is footing the bill? Is it Renault? Or is there a "collective" pool that all dealers pay into? Anyone shed any light on this?
