  That's just scratching the surface of one large car company, and then we have the GM empire, VAG, a tie up between Renault and Nissan........ The one I've just read about though that surprised me was that Peugeot and Fiat are sharing a platform for two new cars, as are Peugeot and Toyota for 2005. I stopped, checked my mirror that the car behind also stopped, and looked forward.

• Engine vibration, Help. 7 May 2003 (Forum)
  After a 2-hour of driving during the weekend (not too hard, around 4,500 rpm for most of the time), the engine of my 1991 Nissan 200sx is vibrating while it is idling at around 850 rpm (even the exhaust pile and gear stick are shaking). The sound of the exhaust is very rough, like the engine of a small boat. The engine is no longer shaking if I increase the engine to around 1,500 rpm or above.

  Cheers, Andy Further details: - Previous car was 15+ years old was due for retirment, so after a lot of searching for a replacement, in Nov 07 we purchased a 2001 Nissan Mirca 1.0 Auto SE 5 door (SE is the top of the range in the 1.0 litre Auto 5 door models and includes additional safety features like the passenger air bag etc.). This was a 1 owner car, with full dealer service history, only 15000 genuine miles and in pristine / perfect condition.

  Can anyone help me to choose a battery charger for use on my two vehicles: a Nissan Almera 1.8, and a Toyota Hiace campervan? The Almera is mostly used only for short journeys, and stands idle for periods of up to 2 months when I am off in the camper van.  The Hiace stands idle for most of the winter.

    In a way that was good fortune with 5 months rental premiums saved and no insurance costs! (Though Mrs Z got me to pay for her MOT, service, tax and insurance on her Nissan Note instead!) Work have said we will be travelling to clients again in August so I really need to get down to ordering a new motor.  Mileage wise 20k per annum, 15k business and 5k private.

  The results were appalling. Effectively you were dead at the wheel of the Fiat Croma, Honda Legend, Nissan Maxima, Renault 25 and badly injured in a Volvo 740. You would’ve walked away from the recently launched BMW 5 series and the Mercedes E class but the rest were mangled. It’s an eye opener into how poor cars were structurally before the 1990’s and a big thank you should be directed to the magazine for saving lives at great expense to themselves.

  It needs to be reliable as she works night shifts and doesn't want to be stranded at night,  so no VAG DSG's with their notorious failures and similarly that rules out a Nissan Note and their notorious self destructing CVT as also used in the Juke and Qashqai We'd prefer chain cam engine and it has to be petrol. Preferably a smallish engine as she has zero no claims (as previous no claims has expired).

    So far I figured out following models only     Suzuki Vitara (quite small) SX4 S-cross (slightly bigger but still small) Toyota RAV4 (pricey and bit larger than my need) Mitsubhish Ellipse Cross (not yet in market but boot seems small) Nissan Qashqai     I currently drive Kia Ceed. I like Kia Sportage but they don't offer AEB in petrol auto or ACC in any trim at all.   Questions:   1.

  I want something understated, classy and not too impractical as my commuting car, so whilst I adore the Nissan Evora, R8, Skyline etc I don't want it to look to sporty etc So my choices are Jaguar XKR (auto I think) and Vantage 4.3 (manual) Does anyone have any thoughts on the comparison between the two?

  After 6 years with his Micra dad has decided a new car is on his new year "to do" list. 3 of his last 4 cars have been Nissans (Primera, Almera and Micra) and during that time the only part that has been replaced has been a rear wheel cylinder on the Almera and the only warranty jobs have been a lock circlip on the Almera and a faulty electric window switch on the Primera, to say he is happy is an understatement.

  So are mostly looking at small family car segment   We then saw the following:  Ford Focus ( somehow not very convinced - no specific reason )  Kia C'eed ( Automatic is not popular),   Qashqai (very expensive, Auto available in 2.0 engine),  Civic& Corolla (expensive)  Mazda3, SX4 & Fabia ( euroncap rating 4)   Megane ( seems to have maintenance problems) ,  Nissan Note ( euroncap rating 4)   Vauxhall Zafira & Prius (high insurance) , We are now thoroughly confused and at the moment our only short-list is Vauxhall Astra (hatchback or saloon)  Please can you suggest which vechicle should we go for.

  i’ve tried new Honda Jazz and civic and liked the latter somewhat. Tried Nissan Note and did not like it. both times 1.4s. and have no idea how 3+ years old cars in my budget would drive in comparison. Drove friend’s bMW3 diesel for a very short while and found it quite hard.
• Suzuki Alto (2009 - ) - Can I change insurance company's mind? 24 Jan 2010 (Forum)
  In December I bought a brand new Suzuki Alto, at 42 I have never had a brand new car before and this was my pride and joy, I had saved hard and used my 10 year old Nissan Micra (under scrappage deal) to be able to afford car. Obviously it then snowed, and snowed and snowed so in fact I had only driven the car for approx. 3 weeks, the rest of the time it's sat on my drive nice and safe.
