  • '99 Accord - oxygen sensor 6 Nov 2007 (Forum)
It's still under a 3-month used warranty (not with Honda, but supplied by the dealer), but they reckon the warranty people say it's not covered (as "the exhuast system" is excluded). Any ideas gratefully received - I am thinking about calling up another dealer to get the price of the sensor itself for starters, but where I go from there I am not sure - don't want to be driving the car about if it will eventually damage the catalytic converter.
  • Hyundai Tucson (2004 - 2009) - CRTD Blue smoke from exhaust all of a sudden 27 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Hi I have had my CRTD CDX 6 speed Tucson about a year now and covered 14,000 miles. I first had a problem after about 4,000 miles . without warning the car would give out lots of blue smoke. The engine had plenty of time to warm up and their was no significant loss of power .
  • Whats this worth, which should I sell ? 23 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Hi All on yet another wet saturday night. Right, Sadly my father has recently died (84 bless him) any-way, kindly he has left me his car. I already have a car and cannot decide which one to keep, and which one to sell. (My dad would not bothered either way) The car from my dad is TOYOTA YARIS VERSO T SPRIT D4-D. 1.4 DIESEL. REG 16/8/2003 ON A 03 PLATE.
  • Why buy diesel cars? 20 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I've sat down and worked out (yes it's sad I know...) that to repay the £984 difference in list price, bearing in mind diesel being around 4p/litre more expensive (as is the case in my neck of the woods), you'd have to cover nearly 50,000 miles before the diesel engine started paying for itself. Add in the higher servicing costs of a diesel, and that figure may well rise to 60-70k. So, why on earth would Mr Average, who drives 10-12k a year, wish to spend his hard-earnt cash on a diesel, when he won't see any money back for over 4 years, by which point he will have most likely sold the car?!
  • BMW 1-series disappointment 10 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I have just covered about 2000km of driving in Germany in a new BMW 1-series 'pool car'. What a disappointment! I am a pretty big guy (nearly 18st and 6'4") and found the 1-series very uncomfortable. The A-post is wide and sweeps back which made entry and exit difficult for me without banging my head.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - aircon stopped working - fuse? 8 Mar 2006 (Forum)
The car has never been topped up. In addition I took the car for its intermediate inspection at a Peugeot main dealer. They alerted me to the fact that my one of my cooling fans are not functioning correctly.
  • BMW offset pedals 16 Dec 2002 (Forum)
I tried very hard to get the pedals modified but BMW wouldn't do it. So the car had to go back. Has anyone ever tried returning a new BMW?....I wouldn't recommended it. BMW say they've never had anyone with this problem, however since returning the car I've found info that other people have had problems caused by the offset pedals.
  • Rover 25 - My story... (need help) 27 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I am awaiting some details from a solicitor that I used to see if they know what may have happened to my car after the claim was settled. The main thing that is bugging me is the fact that I still owe £3800+ on this car and the GAP insurance that I had taken out didn't cover the cost difference with the finance.
  • Audi A3 + S3 (2008 - ) - crash damage not repaired properly 15 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Even the satnav screen and the clocks were covered in scratches. Where the car had been machine polished, the polish has not been broken down fully and the car is now covered in holograms. I didn't sign anything to say I was happy with the repair, but I wasn't asked to either.
  • Ford Explorer - Stepping into the world of EVs 6 Aug 2025 (Forum)
Bought a 6 month old Ford Explorer Premium Extended Range RWD last week, to replace my 5 year old Puma. The Puma was a great car, bought at 3 years old. The only downside to it was that I struggled to get comfortable in the seat on long journeys, the seat base is very flat… As I cover about 25k a year, it gave me a reason to look for another car, I generally only keep cars a couple of years and had the Puma seat been better, I could have seen myself keeping it a bit longer than usual.
  • Auto gearbox - any reliable unconventional ones? 21 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Hi, My wife has an automatic-only licence and does about 24,000 miles a year. Until now we've had Petrol 1.6L cars like the Astra, Focus etc. We buy used (2-3 years old) when the car's done about 20,000 miles & px it at 100,000. Our usual budget is around the £7-£8k mark. All our cars have had conventional 'torque converter' auto boxes and have been fine but they're a dying breed as car companies try & switch to more efficient unconventional designs like computer controlled manuals (Toyota MMT), DSGs (VW DSG & Ford Powershift) & CVTs.
  • Ford Fiesta MKVI 1.4 Style (2005) - Ford Fiesta clutch/gearbox issues 12 Oct 2013 (Forum)
What is happening here? I'm told it is almost certainly the clutch, but I want to be 110% sure. Because the car was bought from a finance company, I'm hoping it'll be something that is covered under warranty. Either way, I don't feel confident driving it as I fear I could make the problem worse. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  • Cheap Newish Cars on Autotrader 11 Mar 2012 (Forum)
You will send the funds to Yahoo Finance and they will keep the money until you receive the vehicle and test it.In this way both buyer and seller are 100% covered during the steps of this transaction. They will hold and insure your money until receipt of the car in good condition. That is how their service is working. As far as the seller concerns, i will be glad to know that Yahoo Finance is in possession of the funds during the delivery period.
  • Almera 1.8 Auto 9 Mar 2006 (Forum)
To get it to Castle Donington would mean me paying a deposit of £200 which, apparently, is refundable, if I don't like the car. To which I would ask, why ask for the £200 then? I don't want to get into an argument about why I don't want the car, so I am not risking losing £200. We went to see one a 3 door S model, at a local specialist in ex motability cars, but it was really too much money for the age of the car, even though it had only covered about 13K miles.
  • Peugeot 306 noise 24 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I was wondering if anyone could help to identify a noise that appears to come from the front of the car. The noise occurs when turning at slow speed with about 3/4 lock or more applied while accelerating (eg car parks, mini roundabouts, etc. The noise is a continuous, whining/grumbling noise (ie not a clicking CV joint type noise).
  • Filthy Car - thanks Caltex! 7 Jul 2004 (Forum)
The neighbour knocked on my door, and said "have you seen what's outside. I hadn't. There was a huge pall of sooty 'cloud' sweeping over the neighbourhood. The car was covered in hundreds of glops of oil, and the Mrs was less than pleased, as she had just put out a whole line full of washing ... Fortunately for me, I'd just washed the car a few days before, and given it a damn good wax cost, and it was parked in the shade of the house, so the overnight 'dew' was still all over the top surfaces.
  • Mazda 3 - Mazda 3 2.2 d engine failure - warranty problem 13 May 2015 (Forum)
I didn't confirm straight away, as I wanted to get home and phone the warranty company to confirm that they had actually asked me to approve the diagnostic cost in the event that they decided it wasn't a warranty issue. The reason being the garage I left the car with was the garage that serviced the car at the end of November last year, so I was a little conscious of the possibility they had done something wrong at the service, and may be trying to get out of covering any costs if it was found to be their fault.
  • Mazda 3 - Getting fed up with this!!! 16 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Once again nothing was recorded in the fault memory. I got the car back on Saturday and drove about 30 miles in her. The lag was no better than when the car was new, but the other problems were out of her. There is now a total of just over 6,000 miles on the car and tonight all the previous faults are back again.
  • Volkswagen Golf GTE - Help! Car Horn won't shut up 13 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Hi all, new to the forum so apologies if this one is covered in a separate thread please feel free to redirect me   I have a 2017 (67 plate) GTE and 4 times in the past month the car horn sounds constantly for over 10 seconds, pauses for a second or two then sounds again constantly when I unlock the car, open the door and/or start the ignition, stop the car, and lock it.
  • BMW 3 Series - Car Insurance Money in lieu 20 Feb 2013 (Forum)
The cost of repairs was much lesser than market value. However, they offered me a fixed money in lieu and asked me to get the car repaired at a garage of my choice. I refused this option as a garage of my choice could quote more for repairs and insurance company said that they wouldn't cover additional costs.
