Mercedes Benz SLK AMG - Young driver reversed into my car. 2 Feb 2021 (Forum)
So in his head he isn't liable. He's saying that he rolled into me four times. I have footage of his driving prior to this event and to say he was reckless would be an understatement to which the police agreed. The police also have ANPR footage of him driving around the area at speed and carelessly. -
any - Cogs gears worm drives etc for that failed part? 29 Nov 2019 (Forum)
My wife had a die cutting machine which stripped a couple of teeth off a metal cog inside, no part available so it's basically scrap, but whilst looking for a used one for parts she found a chap on the bay of E who sells such things, gears drives, microswitches, springs etc.. He didn't sell this particular part, but he said to send it to him and he'd see what could be done, sure enough he made one up posted it to us i reassembled and the die cutter is working well again. -
Nissan Mica 2004 XS - Nissan Micra Dead Battery Help 23 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Hi All My wife recently bought a Nissan Micra (2004) as a run around car just to use for city driving.. The Battery of the car is not the greatest, as we noticed after not driving it for 5-6 days, it needed a jump start. We again did not drive the car for a 5-6 days as we were away, however on this occasion we are unable to jump start the car because the key fob to open the car does not work. -
Mazda 6 - Mazda 6 2.5 - thoughts? 20 May 2019 (Forum)
Can folks who have driven the 2.5 version give me your thoughts on it? I test drove a version with the 2.5 engine. But used car test drives are by nature short test drives. I found the car to be good drive to drive. The interiors of the car were plush and elegant, with leather upholstery and an openable moon roof. The electronic dash (which powers up when you turn the car on) appears very funky. -

High mileage driver looking for next (used) car 17 Jun 2017 (Forum)
The car spends 6 weeks a year abroad in Italy with my wife and family, so must be good for long-distance continental driving too. Cheers - Philip -
Autonomous cars 5 Mar 2017 (Forum)
Prepare for a rant... I am interested to find the views of the forum on the subject of self-driving cars. My view is that research should be put into making cars safer before investing money into such a ridiculous concept. There has already been a fatality because a driver thought his car could drive itself. -
High seating car with low insurance. 28 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Currently drive a renault kadjar on fleet insurance. Hopefully daughter should pass her driving test in a few months. She is 21. My contract at work is due to end soon and due to bad health I might take some time off. -

The car is a Petrol 1.4 Polo 1998 with 65K on the clock which when in traffic shakes a bit and when start to drive away it feels like it is goign to stall until you reach about 30mph - it idles low when started and then gets a bit higher after a couple of seconds and when you drive it it doesnt let you go as fast as it should. -
Audi Q3 - Advice on test driving an Audi Q3 without buying 10 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Now on the phone the guy who helped us seemed pretty knowledgeable and the rates shown were actually what was on offer (I tried a couple of places that when you phoned up the deal was no longer available or only on a limited number of deals). So from that side of things I'm happy. The only gripe I have is not being able to drive and get a feel for the car before receiving it. How much of a hassle is it to go to a dealership and arrange a test drive without actually having to go through a lengthy and pressured sales pitch? -
Nissan Micra K11 - Nissan Micra K11 no gears at all 11 Dec 2013 (Forum)
When I cycle back from D to P I can hear slight grinding noise as if something was not locking properly. When the car is in D ( still not driving) and I press on the gas pedal the spedo is moving as if indicating that the car was driving. I changed transmission oil (3 L of Dex II) and still nothing. I performed the self diagnostic test to identify the fault and the first blink was the longest indicating that the vehicle speed sensor is short/disconnected. -
Audi A4 B8 - Should I keep it after a DMF replacement 1 Aug 2013 (Forum)
It seems that a Mercedes C Class uses a goold ole torque converter so that may be the way to go - I just don't know if I can live with the boring dash/interior after driving an Audi! I've had an advanced driving instructor asses my driving style to see if I could be to blame. The answer was no. Also the clutch that was removed confirmed this. Should I : a. -
ford fiesta 1.6tdci - fiesta - repair to steering - like driving on ice 9 Dec 2012 (Forum)
I had new tyres fitted approx 6 weeks before this and the tracking done and the car was holding the road very well. since the repair the steering has gone very light and it feels like I am driving on wet, even like I am driving on ice at times, when the road is actually absolutely fine and sometimes is actually dry. I have checked tyre pressures etc and all is fine. It seems ok with a small amount of turning to the wheel, it grips fine - if you imagine the steering wheel usually at twelve o clock position. -
Car seized for no insurance - urgent help needed! 24 Jul 2012 (Forum)
I'm posting on behalf of a friend. They got stopped by the police who then seized their car because they were stupidly driving without insurance. He got a fixed penalty notice of 6 points and a £200 fine. Now comes the difficult bit - trying to get the car back. He can't afford to take out a policy now to get the car back, he'd need a deposit of £400 plus the money to pay the fine and the recovery fee. -
Citroen C5 Turbo HDi 2 litre - Turbo or what is it 13 Mar 2012 (Forum)
The problem continued, but after parking the car overnight & re-booting the computer when starting the problem always disappears. Six monthe in UK including motorway driving – no problems. On returning to France & on the autoroute South, after 4-5 hours of driving on climbing hills between Lyon & Grenoble the turbo power failed. After re-booting the computer & driving gently & presumably letting the engine cool a little the turbo re-started! -
Jaguar - Those irresponsible Jaguar drivers 12 Jan 2012 (Forum)
-- START article --> Owen Swift was caught driving at 147mph by an officer using a laser speed gun A police sergeant who caught a pensioner driving a luxury car at 147mph on a bypass has described the incident as "the worst case of excessive speed I have ever seen in 26 years of policing". -
Buying a first car - diabetic/insurance 31 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Someone suggested a 1.6 Ford Focus, but i'm cautiously considering that might be a bit ambitious for a first drive, but as a few instructors use this car to teach, perhaps not? I was taught to drive in a 2000's Vauxhall Corsa, and then my instructor changed to a new Peugeot 207. I need something cheap to service, and cheap to run and insure. -
Toyota Prius - Toyota Prius 3 test 25 Jul 2011 (Forum)
The Mondeo is in it's element powering through the gears. This thing is tortuous while accelerating. Verdict - nice car but not that fun to drive. Will get a diesel next time. -
B Category Driving Licence 26 Apr 2011 (Forum)
It suprises me how few people know about the rules regarding towing for people who passed their driving test after 1st Jan 1997. I passed myself in 1998 and a couple of years back bought a caravan. I was not aware at the time that the gross weight of the outfit, (car & trailer) has to be 3500kgs or lower. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2001 2.0 DuraTorq DI loss of power 1 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Before shelling out several hundred Euros in purchasing a new pump with labor, another opinion would be appreciated. Here are the symptoms: 1. The car starts fine and initially drives fine.. After 15 to 20 minutes of driving when the temperature gets to normal range (almost 50%) while driving, the engine loses power, with a bit of jerk reaction. 2. Once the program begins, the car can kind of chug along in 1st or 2nd speed, but any acceleration and the chugging begins. 3.
