What Credit Crunch? 11 Oct 2008 (Forum)
So we have gone from dealer to dealer in our area (Glasgow). Very few want to discount new cars with or without a part exchange. Many dealers eg Nissan say they just can't get the cars or the profit is so low they are lucky to take £500 off the price of a new one. Obviously, prices in England are better as per this website. One particular dealer is claimimg to be 'beating the crunch' up here... but they are advertising special offer cars at the same price as they were before all this happened. -
Auto. Car for under £1500 5 Jan 2008 (Forum)
If I can get one with less than 750000miles too, that would be great. Two cars that I'm looking at the moment are: 1. 2000 Nissan Almera 3dr hatch 1.8SE 60000miles. I've looked at a 5 door hatch and felt it was a little big for me, as 95% of the time it will be just me in the car with the scuba gear. 2. 1997 VW Polo 1.4 3dr hatch 30,000 miles There is another car on autotrader that I really like ( a vectra) but I've rang & left a message and sent 2 texts to the advertiser and haven't heard anything back. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Suggestions for replacing... 30 Nov 2007 (Forum)
A hard wearing interior would also be beneficial as the mondeo is showing the signs of wear from people getting in it still slightly damp. I have discounted anything smaller than the mondeo estate and have a real hankering for a Nissan Pathfinder, though I would only be able to afford a one which has lots and lots of miles on. Seriously though, any suggestions would be appreciated. I reckon my car is worth £1200 and I could afford probably about another £7-8,000. -
Reliable cars? Seems not 5 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Interestingly he tells me that the two garages that he gets most business from locally sell Renault and wait for it ....BMW. Toyotas not what they were and Nissans no better. Honda still pretty good and Mazda consistent. Merecedes he tells me isn't bad at all but A class is not up to scratch. I asked what he was now driving - an Audi S3 that has been excellent. -
4x4 the safest by far? 17 Oct 2006 (Forum)
The cars with the worst records for driver deaths and serious injuries are the old-style Mini, the Fiat Panda, pre-1993 Nissan Micra, Daewoo Matiz and Suzuki Swift. The DoT looked at police reports of more than 138,000 crashes from 2000 to 2004. Drivers of small and medium-sized cars involved in collisions with another car had a one in 200 chance of being killed, compared with fewer than one in 10,000 for drivers of people-carriers and 4x4s. -
Medium size auto advice 18 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Although not the 16 valve 'Ecowreck' it may be an interference type if the cambelt goes? An alternative is the Nissan Almera of same vintage with 1.8 chain cam engine. Although worse image and rather 'thin' bodywork it has a durable reputation. Reading the comments on another post about 100,00 mile Civic perhaps this is the way to go. -
Downmarket Car Auctions 5 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Well, as daughter wants a new car, I took the plunge and visited a car auction a long way from Blackbushe. I was hoping to get a smallish Nissan/Toyota or similar up to a year old. What a disappointment! Many of the cars were in the sub-banger category and were selling for between £30 and £150. An Audi 100 similar to one I once owned new went for £70. -
Wrong Specs of 350Z Roadster 4 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Hi guys I placed a deposit of £500 with my local dealer for the 350z roadster when nissan first accepted orders in october. Just before Christmas my dealer phoned me up for specifications and i said that i wanted the standard 350z with metallic paint. however the dealer just called me and said that the car will be arriving in 2 days time but it will be a 350z GT which costs £2500 more than the standard version. -
Micra occasionally stalling ????? 3 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, We have an L reg Nissan Micra 1.0 that has served us well for three years. In recent months we have a problem with the engine stalling when we come to a rest - not all the time but maybe 30 - 40%. It starts and drives OK ( but sometimes does feel a bit starved if I am honest ). -
What Car ? 17 Sep 2004 (Forum)
So, i thought i would post on here and ask for peoples opinions on what they have owned or own. I have only test driven 1 car upto now an Auto Nissan Almera 4dr saloon 1.6. Apart from not looking as nice as it's piccy in the ad, it didn't drive as well as i thought it would, it seemed under powered. I think an auto should have at least a 2.0 litre engine. -
Ramblings 14 Sep 2004 (Forum)
The Colt review mentioned the new Renault Modus, which is now being advertised on the box, and quite neat it looks. I imagine the Colt will remain the better buy, but I did recently see a Renault Trafic Van with Nissan badges, so who knows what you're getting these days? Over and out... -
Why can't I sell my car? 25 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I got my new Fiesta back in September/October and ever since I have been trying to sell my old car. The car is an X reg Nissan Micra S in Silver. I am advertising it at near enough book price - £3400. The car has only done 23,000 miles and is in near perfect condition. I have spent close to £250 on Autotrader adverts and another £50 on an MOT to help it sell. -
Laguna accident +Brakes 15 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Did the old trick of rear ending somone at a roundabout, you know the one, theres a gap, hes gone, theres a gap I go OH NO he is still there. Anyway, Knocked the the rear bumper off a x reg nissan almera or sunny thingy. The laguna just has some dirty scuff marks on the front bumper (must have been about 10mph speed) so it survived really well. EXCEPT THE BRAKES They didnt feel right while standing on them during accident and now seem distinctly odd to me. -
Japanese Reliablity! 14 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I decided to try and count the number of broken down vehicles on the road during my journey to try and relieve boredom. I saw 2 Hondas, 2 Vauxhalls, 1 Ford, 1 Toyota, 1 V.W. and 1 Nissan. To be fair the toyota was an old supra with full bodykit and wings and deserved to be broken down and the V.W. was an old transporter van but all the others were relatively modern. The one noticable thing about this is that out of 8 vehicles 4 of them were japanese. -
Fuel Injection 20 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Have a nissan pulsar with fuel injection. Seems when I start her in the morning and drive, it is fine. I turn it off and go do what I need to do and get back in the car, she won\'t start. Sounds like she is flooded. -

Nissan Almera (2000 - 2006) - - time to replace, but with what? 2 Jan 2010 (Forum)
The ol' workhorse has done his time with us and after 5 years he's beginning to show his age and grumble. I'm giving him a year and will replace all the... -
New wheels for NoWheels 27 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Looking through the option, it seems that I could get say a 2001 Ford Focus 1.6, or a rather newer Nissan Almera, or have a wide choice of Citroen Xsaras. I have ruled out a Vauxhall Astra (good value, but the ride is horrible), anything FIAT (reliability), Seat Leon (looks nice, but pricey), VW Golf (price), Peugeot 307 (reliability) and a Mazda 323 (steering too light, I found a 1992 model deeply scary to drive). -
Honda Jazz 2023 Hybrid. - Honda Intelligent Speed Limit control 6 Jul 2023 (Forum)
Apparently, if you operate the indicator you may be going into another speed limit so it turn off. I also have a Nissan and that reads speed limits as I would expect - and even holds them in memory if I turn off the engine...as quite probably the same limit will apply when I turn it back on! Honda - loses all the info. -
Vauxhall Corsa - Problem with jump-starting 16 May 2020 (Forum)
However unlike the first two times there's no sound at all when I turn the key in the ignition. Today I tried jump-starting the car using a neighbour's Nissan Micra (same battery voltage). With both engines and all electrics off I connected the positive terminals, then connected the black lead to the Micra's negative terminal. When I went to connect the black lead to a metal bracket under the Corsa's hood it sparked.
