  Hi, The alarm on my Audi A4 has suddenly started sounding for no apparent reason. The key fob won't stop it and it even carries on when I start the engine. If it does stop and I lock the car with the fob the red alarm light on the doors flashes for a second and then stays red before the alarm sounds a few seconds later.

  AA would not look at it because of red light policy had it towed home, I s diagnostic check going to tell me anything my feeling is i might have a broken cam belt as it was overdue a change, My dilema now is after reading a fair bit about this sought of problem instead of throwing money at this problem do i jusyt bite the bullet and put a new engine in from a write off Audi, Have been quoted £1900 for 2009 engine 30k miles supply and fit with a warranty? Any thoughts welcome

  The car is a great runner now and the only reason I would swap is based purely on what I want rather than the car being a pig or anything. I am thinking of an Audi Diesel now. With audi being part of VAG, would the repair costs generally be affordable or are these marked up due to it being an Audi.

  I'm tempted to sneak in interim oil and filter at every 10000 - where to get hold of correct spec diesel engine oil and Audi oil filter? Also seem to be trapped in Audi dealership for servicing to maintain warranty thru to 2009- any thoughts on risk / benefits of independent servicing? Interestingly this car has been used as a company car at Bently Crewe for 4 months only - surely a "VW-Audi" "arrangement" to get nearly new cars onto forecourt at greatly reduced prices (in this case nearly £10K off new price after fairly hard negotiation and cash offer) - can't conplain as it seems OK value to me at the price sold - why not be more honest about pricing structure?

  My husband and I are looking to trade in our much-loved Mazda MX-5 for something a bit more practical.  We're considering a 2008 Audi A3 Sportback because it seems like it's fairly sensible, whilst not being too dull.  We're considering having kids in the near future, and need to know whether the boot of the A3 sportback is big enough for all the kiddie stuff we're going to have to buy (as and when we get to that stage)!

  Trade reviews on the other hand, state that is simply the best car available in its class. He has had trouble free motoring with his Audis and although the trade reviews for both for the A4 and the A3 Sportback, which his wife would prefer, are not as glowing as for the BMW, the reports from owners tell a different story. Add to this he could get a newer A4 or A3 for the same price as the BMW, I think he should stick with Audis, opinions from anyone with experience of either or both would be welcome.

  However, rather than go the expense of getting a brand new one (£200) and seeing if it works I ordered a 2nd hand one from a guy who specialises in Audi Coupes. He sent it to me but it was not what I was expecting but still sent it to france - only for Dad to email saying he thinks it's the wrong one. Before I go back to the Audi guy I just am trying to find out what it should look like!!

  Brother in law has at present an Audi 1.8 petrol which has enjoyed but has now done over 140k. He is thinking of changing to a diesel A6 and has seen the 52 reg one quoted below in a main dealers for £12,800. He asked me what I thought!!

  Why does it always rain on weekends and bank holidays? Well anyway heres my question to you all Im thinking of purchasing an Audi A6 2.5tdi Quattro 140bhp 6 speed. It is a 1997 P reg, saloon, The asking price is £4000 froma private seller. Its got 131000 miles with full Audi service history. Is this asking price reasonable? (the car does have full leather,climate control,air con,alloys etc) Also what sort of mileages can these cars realistically run to?
