  what is it with volvo and air con systems?? ive just had the evaporator replaced under warranty in my v70 the same problem arose with a 850 i owned previously, talking to the dealer who carried out the repair he reckons a 4 year life is average, outragaeous in a car costing 30k surely its not beyond the wit of volvo to manufacture the damn things out of decent material?

  Our second car is a 95 Volvo 440 1.8 with the "Hi Tech" CVT transmission. The car has been well serviced (by Volvo) and is pleasant enough but has one downside - sometimes (particularly when cold) when coming to a halt with the brakes the car shudders and almost stalls.

  Dr Friend who has one called Volvo about washer fluid light coming on. £250 for diagnostic plus eventual repair.. One of his patients an indie. Bring it in.. replaced sensor , cost of part.. couple of minutes to do.

  Volvo xc 90 D5, using coolant, no contamination of oil or coolant, no roasting, warning light indicates low coolant level, no evidence of leaks, any suggestions of where the coolant is going and fix...i suspect head gasket but would like opinions, many thanks. mike.

  I removed the rear seats (Top seats) of the volvo and disconected the 2 wires of the SRS . Now the dash computer has an issue with that, is there any way I can stoped this as i want to leave the seats out permently.

  HELP. I have a volvo s40 1997, 2.0l. It drives fine but wont idle it just cuts out. If i am driving around and put my foot on the clutch the reves drop and it dies, it sometimes struggles to keep going but usually just dies. can you help me?.

  The Volvo forums are fine, but somehow the backroom is a much calmer place to sit and chat! Anyway, I have discovered a four way rocker switch on the back of the steering wheel at the right hand side. The manual is silent on this.

  I've seen some aftermarket LED bulbs on a website that claim to last 50000 hrs, could i just pop these into my volvo ( direct replacement) without any messages coming up? Thanks.

  Hi I have a Volvo 440 2.0 CD which has been off the road for 1 year and 2 months, I would like to put it back on the road now. What servicing is required before driving it to the garage to get an MOT/Road-worthy? Thank you for any advice.

  - Anyone got any experience of driving the Volvo V70/S60/V50 with the D5 engine and a Geartronic automatic gearbox? I didn't think that diesel torque matched well with an auto box? Is the D5 worth a lot more than the alternative 2.0D lump I can get in a V50?

  I'm looking for a temporary car for my father-in-law and have been offered a 1995M Volvo 460 1.8 with 50K miles and full history for 700 UKP. It is in very good condition in a nice silver colour. Is this good value? I'll have to sell the car again in about 6 months, so that is an important factor.

  Yesterday I had my cam belt break accelerating away from a junction in a Volvo 480 Turbo. There was no significant bang - total loss of power (of course)- What damage and costs, am I likely to face? Should I expect to require a new engine / or extensive man-hours?

  I have heard that Renault supplied the engines to the early Volvo V40s. Is that true? Are there any other french engines quietly appearing in apparently non-french cars? In view of the recent problem owners of Peugeot and Renault owner have had due to poor quality I want to steer clear of anything remotely french.

  Hello. I'm looking for some advice here. My volvo 940 went in for it's MOT 2 weeks ago and passed. 2 weeks later and car wouldn't start so called the AA out. Firstly battery is dead and needs a new one. Noticed ABS pump leak, needs a new one. Even though i had filled up the oil prior to MOT it was bone dry.

  Hi, My wife?s car has just suffered a cam belt failure, which the local-ish Volvo dealer has said has caused major damage. What's worrying me is that the car only has 61K miles on the clock, has always been maintained by Volvo dealer, has belt changed at 50K service, per Volvo recommendation.

  The choice has boiled down to one of 2 cars (nothing else under consideration, not even a Mondeo TDCi...): Saab 9-3 saloon, Vector Sport finish, 1.9tdi with 150bhp; or Volvo S40 D5 SE Geartronic, 2.4D with 180bhp. Both are around 6 months old with broadly similar specs. Will be sourced from main dealer stock. There are fewer Volvos around, and so prices are correspondingly higher.
