Hi
I have a Volvo 440 2.0 CD which has been off the road for 1 year and 2 months, I would like to put it back on the road now. What servicing is required before driving it to the garage to get an MOT/Road-worthy?
Thank you for any advice.

Depending on how the car has been stored, the discs may well be rusty. If badly corroded this will be a fail, at the least there may be brake inbalence. This one is a connundrum as you can't drive around for a week before the test and it is not worth buying new pads and discs in case it fails on something else.
In similar circumstances I clean up the discs as best I can and drive to the MOT station with left foot resting on brake pedal.
Can't advise about emissions etc as my cars are so old this isn't a problem for me

But it's worth taking a very big detour to the test, also to get the engine hot and all the cobwebs cleared out.

In the back of a Haynes manual (any, it's generic) there's a pre-MoT checklist, try running through that.

Give it the once-over according to the official testing manual here:
www.motuk.co.uk/manual/contents.htm
(obviously some aspects of the tests will be limited by your facilities at home).
