  • need a small run around pool car 14 Nov 2013 (Forum)
I reckon that the car will do no more than 6,000 miles pa and there will be lot of stop start trips. If money was no object I would get a Nissan Leaf, but we want to lease for less than £150pcm + VAT. It strikes me that Yaris Hybrid might do the trick. We are also looking at something small, preferably 5dr and also possibly automatic.
  • Air conditioning, air too dry! 19 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Our Nissan Note is the first car we've had with that new fangled Air con thingy.  Up until now opening the windows has been good enough for us.  This weekend however with the wonderful weather we gave the air con a good testing.
  • Good ground clearence what to buy? 6 Mar 2011 (Forum)
We currently run a Nissan X trial as the daily commuter vehicle, 60 mile round trip rural roads, which starts and ends with a mile of rough track. It's due for replacement and with rising fuel prices and both working in the NHS so on a pay freeze we need to find something a bit more economical, 4 wheel drive is not important as we have several Land Rovers if the going gets rough, ground clearence is, size is not overly important as there is usualy only the wife and I, but we are used to high-up vehciles, with a bit of comfort and good drivabilty, we are both the wrong side of forty so not boy racers but we don't plod around at 45mph either.
  • Renault Koleos SUV (2008 - ) - Should I buy one ?! 27 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I have read HJ/UV tests, but does anyone have any feedback/ experience on build, quality, reliability of the Koleos before I buy? I know they are built out of Korea using lots of Nissan mechanicals but advice from friends based on their recent experience of Renault, cars and dealers, is "Whatever you do, don't do it!". I have no ownership experience of Renault or anything French and so am guided by nothing more than general suspiscion and prejudice picked up elsewhere.
  • Smallish automatic for about £6k 21 Nov 2009 (Forum)
We had a test drive with a 3 year old Mitsubishi Colt diesel automatic, but the auto lurched from gear to gear, ? had no torque converter unlike her current Yaris. We are now thinking of a 1.6 Nissan Note automatic, she has driven one of these as a hire car and it drove well, but she would like something a bit less "utilitarian" and more chic. She would like something a bit different, no Fords, Renaults or Peugeots?
  • Still confused - looking for a value all rounder 28 Jul 2009 (Forum)

  • New car for the mother-in-law!! 10 Jul 2009 (Forum)
The prices are too high for the father-in-law, who arrived at my place last night with a brochure for the Nissan Pixo (a foul thing by all accounts). So the brief is it has to be super-cheap to buy (<£8500) and run for the FIL, and has to be reasonably stylish and comfortable for the MIL. In addition to the Ka/Fiesta, I've told her to have a look at the following - Hyundai i20 / i30 and Toyota Aygo (and clones) Are there any others they should be looking at?
  • Which would you buy? 8 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I've had a little look through Parkers, and came up with the following choices: Kia Picanto Daewoo Matiz Fiat Panda Ford Fiesta (the one that was discontinued in about 02) Hyundai Getz Nissan Micra Toyota Yaris Would have loved a Honda Jazz, but they're too pricey! Anyway, if you have any opinions on the above, or any other suggestion, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Cheers
  • Volkswagen Passat (1997 - 2000) - 2000 1.9 TDI Heater Matrix? 26 Nov 2008 (Forum)
The first thing I thought of was heater matrix and this is only because my brother had similar problems with a Nissan Primera. I checked the coolant bottle under the bonnet and is full. Any ideas? Could it be something related to: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?f=4&t=68882
  • Talk me out of this 6 Aug 2008 (Forum)
2004 54 Nissan Primera estate SE 2.2 TD, 97k £2,500. Nice condition, save for an ugly stone-dint on the bonnet. Even I'm getting an itchy wallet with prices this low. That car has lost some 90% of its original list price in 45 months.
  • Offended Almera owner 16 Apr 2008 (Forum)
?Telling people at a dinner party you drive a Nissan Almera is like telling them you?ve got the ebola virus and you?re about to sneeze.? This disgraceful slur is described on the Autotrader review site as one of "Jeremy Clarkson's 48 best quotes."
  • Towing vehicle in fast lane 1 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Travelling down the M6/M5 early on Monday morning this week, I was quite astonished to be overtaken by a Nissan or Mitsubishi pick-up towing a loaded trailer in lane 3. I was doing 70 and he came past relatively easily, at I would guess at least 80+. Amongst other things, it was dark, pouring with rain and there was a howling gale, but even better, he never made any attempt to use any other lane.
  • Shouldn't it be harder to buy blank service books? 30 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I know it's 10-yrs old and I don't get it serviced at the main dealer, but I bought it with full service history (stamped book plus bills and old MoTs) so I think it'd be nice to keep it up. Rang Nissan main dealer and they sold me a blank service book for £10.58, no questions asked. Now, if I was an unscrupulous person I could get myself a rubber stamp made up and stamp my own 'full service history'.

  • Water Cooled Turbo`s 21 Mar 2007 (Forum)
.>>> When one considers all the problems with seized turbo bearings/failures that have been noted on this forum over the years from Renault, Nissan & even Honda among many others, it seems odd that manufacturers have not adapted water cooled turbos more widely. It makes one wonder if they don`t factor in design weaknesses, to keep their main dealer workshops busy.
  • Fuel economy on new car 17 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Afternoon everyone We picked up a brand new Nissan X-Trail last week. We got the 2.2 diesel version with a reported 37 mpg. However, on my rough calculations we are only getting approx 28mpg and yet we are driving very sedately at the moment. I'm aware that on new cars, they are not fully economical and takes time for the engine to bed down before becoming more economical.
  • Paint & fabric protection - worth £149? 23 Feb 2006 (Forum)

I have the option of paying the Nissan dealer £149 for Scotts "paint and upholstery protection" with a 6 year guarantee from date of application provided I apply their spray every 6 months. • Celica 2000 on - Best handling FWD? 13 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I once read in a Far East car mag, in the Far East market, the Celica has a front LSD just like the Focus RS (or even my Nissan QX) and it has the best handling FWD chassis. Is that true for UK car? The second question is that, I once read the current Mondeo can generate 0.88g for the standard LX model. That is very, very good.
  • What sex is your car? 25 Jul 2005 (Forum)
What makes a car 'male'? Is it a car with aggressive looks, big alloys, high power? ie. Subaru Imprezza = Male? Nissan Micra = Female?
  • Serena - Timing chain 27 May 2005 (Forum)
Hi, A family member (It isn't me - honest!) has a Nissan Serena 2.0 petrol with 88k on the clock on an M reg. On the way back from a service/MOT it just died. Dealer called out to recover & advised that timing chain had gone and further diagnosis was required to see extent of damage - due to happen early next week.
