  I then fancied a Merc, and discovered that they had to be autos, so an auto it was. Since then I haven't looked back, and bought an auto Audi 100. Personally, for London driving (of which I don't do a lot, but enough to be irritating), I would never swap back. For motorway cruising, I cannot see why it makes a difference. What do others drive, and why?

  i own a 1998 audi A6 1.T. the handbook recommends castrol SLX which is about £38 in halfords. would people reccommend using castrol magnetec but change it every 5000 miles (inc filter). surley its better to change the oil more often - though th guy uin halfords said i can only use castrol SLX - i wonder if his on commission?!

  Hi is it possible to replace the keihin with a weber on audi 80 1.8 ? I know a lot of guys do it for VW 1.8 etc but webcon don't do it, in fact when I called they said they couldn't do it, just they couldn't say why.... can anyone unlock this mystery? Engine code on my car is NE, have a haynes carb manual which says weber were fitted on an older VW 1.8, engine code NE.

  Ok - firstly apologies if this later seems like a stupid question, but here goes.. We are currently a 2 car family - Audi A6 & Fiesta Zetec. We now are thinking we need only one car, and will be looking to update within the next few months. Part Exchanging 2 used cars for one new one in a single transaction at dealerships, car supermarkets etc. -- Can it be done, or has anyone tried???

  Hi I have had a re-occuring problem with my 1997 Audi A3 1.6. Coolant/water seems to be getting into the No.1 cylinder / piston bore. A cylinder pressure test has shown a leak however the escaping air seems to be coming from somewhere around the top of the manifold inlet.

  Hello, I have a 1998 Audi A6 1.8TSE and am thinking of getting a performanve chip fitted. Current mileage is 84k and the car is as sweet as a nut, just a tad used to the performance after 20k of driving. Amd offer a chip upgrade that will give me an extra 40 bhp and 40 ibsft of torque ( approx ) for £550.

  I've just had a 2 year service carried out at a Audi dealer. Since then when i cold start the engine i get a half second increase in revs to around 1200rpm. It never did this before, the only difference there is from my previous service (this time last year) is the use of fully synthetic oil as opposed to semi , any ideas before i contact the dealer?

  Have just had it confirmed by a reader that pre tax prices for Audis at least have been raised in Holland. Buying at the new pre tax price, then paying UK VAT, the reader could only save £204 on an A4 TDI. Am not running this as a news item until I get further confirmation, but this could mean the end for a lot of imports from Holland and Denmark.

  This leads me to assume that the lease companies must be inundated with unwanted larger cars such as BMW's, Audis and the like. Are auction prices and, therefore, retail prices for these cars falling and, if so, by how much ? Any bargains ?

  Are stick on balancing weights better than the clip on types or do they come off in time, I've seen new Audis with vinyl coated weights on alloys but most tyre places seem to apply the standard weights with all the finesse of a blacksmith!! Are these vinyl coated weights available elsewhere? Thanks, Ian

  Does anyone have experience of the Tuningbox on Audi A4 Tdi 90bhp? I am considering purchase of similar vehicle but would appreciate the claimed extra bhp/torque for towing. I've checked the web-site and it would appear that the turbo boost/wastegate is not affected.

  Also, as a further consequence of this, I have been unable to bring my car to my nearest garage for a fault that occurred on the 2nd September. I only notified Audi deleted of this on 13th as I have been spending all my spare time trying to resolve your matter which could have quite easily been avoided. I would like Audi to provide, at their cost, a viable alternative means of transport as well as reasonable compensation for this unnecessary position.

  We've been having quite a time of ot the last couple of days. Following on from my wife's Audi A3 catching fire on the drive on Sunday, Tuesday evening while we were watching Pointless we heard a loud bang and a car alarm going off. Fearing the Audi had somehow re-ignited we rushed out the front door to see a Nissan Navara stopped across the bottom of our drive, sitting in a pile of bricks which used to be our garden wall!

  Among numerous clips of video I have seen over the last few days, I couldn't help but notice the prominent Mercedes haerse [mis-spelled to avoid censor] carrying the Queen's coffin in Scotland, and one or two (what seemed to be) royal Audis amongst the more numerous Rolls Royces and Range Rovers. With funeral proceedings now going ahead in London, I noticed what seems to be a gleaming new Jaguar-based "State haerse", which has an illuminated glass rear area.

• Jaguar XF - Review - 3.0D 22 May 2015 (Forum)
  One other factor swung the decision for me - the relative exclusivity of the XF.  On my 120 mile round trip to work and back I see an almost endless number of BMW, Audi and Merc but hardly any other XFs.  For those looking for a change - try a test drive in an XF and I bet it won't be what you expected.
