  So I'm in the market to get a new car, and amongst the many brokers etc online I've found a very good price. I've done a fair bit of research and am aware of the V5C 'retention' that is used by brokers/dealers to get the big discount. In this case, the company I'm dealing with said that the V5C will be sent straight to me by DVLA after delivery (i.e. no 3 month retention).

  Hi, My Ford Fiesta was stolen a few days ago from outside my girlfriend’s flat so going through the insurance processes as we speak. I’ve been asked to send my V5C to the claim handler but have noticed it has my old address on it and I moved from this address in May 2022. My license and insurance policy have been updated previously with my correct address but I’m concerned my claim might be denied based on the V5C having a different address on it, could this happen?

  Hi all, At the weekend I bought a used car from a dealer, it is an ex-Motability car so the taxation class on the V5C is still 'Disabled'. The dealer has the V5C and will be sending that off to DVLA, and I will then receive the new V5C with my details on it.

  Hi A friend has just bought a car privately from someone who works in the motor trade who was running the car himself and he in turn appears to have bought the car from a friend who is another dealer as a trade car and has been running it as such (i.e. he never bothered to get the V5C). So the problem is there is no  V5C with the car and obviously my friend is obviously trying to get the thing registered in his name. The last V5C was issued in 2011. It was suggested that he fill in a V62 application for registration certificate which he did but when he took this to the local post office the DVLA system declined/rejected it.
