Why is my insurer asking for a copy of the V5C?

My granddaughter has just become 17 and is learning to drive. As my wife is no longer allowed to drive we have made her car available for her to learn on but have retained ownership. My daughter has taken out insurance in my granddaughter's name with her and her partner/child's father as additional drivers.

The insurance company have asked for a copy of the V5C of which I have provided (the second page) with a signed authority from my wife and I to allow the insurance to be taken. I have now been asked to provide a full copy of the V5C. I have never heard of these requests before. Is this normal practice?

It is not uncommon for insurance companies to request a copy of the full V5C rather than just a specific page, as they may need to verify the vehicle's details and ownership. The complete V5C provides a comprehensive record of the vehicle and insurance companies often require it for their internal processes.

If you have concerns or questions about the request from the insurer, I would recommend contacting them directly to clarify why they require the full V5C. They should be able to explain their reasoning and address any doubts or uncertainties you may have.
