Rover 75 air flow meter fitting 24 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Hi I'm just following on from posts from Stanton Man made a while ago about the Rover air flow meter. I too got passed a quote for a lovely total of £335 for replacing air flow meter plus labour (and new air filter). I sourced a meter for £110 (compared to Rover's £180 before VAT). Just wondering about fitting the meter. -
Driving lesson vouchers 6 Jan 2005 (Forum)
One idea is that she needs driving lessons, as she wants to learn to drive. She did actually have some lessons about a year ago, and passed the theory test, but due to work and money had to stop. Are there driving lesson vouchers out there, that I could give her? Not knowing the good driving schools in the area is one problem, plus her finding regular time to them is the other. -

HGV driving for a year 30 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I should think it's about £1000 for the 5 day course. Is it possible to earn back the cost of the course plus a reasonable amount with hard work in the first year, or just marketing gumph? -
Nissan Micra K12 2003 - Hazzard lights on all the time 23 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I have no other problems with the car, everything else works(?!), and a cost of a new bcm is £350 plus vat plus fitting!! Surely, can this be an issue or can the bcm (If it is the problem) be re-wired or by-passes to another area of the car? The car cost me £600 so possibly spending £500 on repairs is out of the question. -

Cost effective small automatic 13 Jan 2010 (Forum)
hello in the near future and hopefully no more than a few months, my daughter may want to buy a small automatic car as she has recently passed her test on a auto. She is not sure what car she learnt to drive in or took her test in other than it was a small car and a automatic - lol. my question is, what would be a good small auto to drive locally that is relatively cheap to run, insure, relaible and safe and max spend about 4/5k plus insurance. -
Toyota Yaris (1999 - 2005) - 99 1.5 MOT forced replacement of headlamp - failed 15 May 2009 (Forum)

Citroen C4 (2004 - ) - 09 1.6 Fitting a towbar - "Trailer Stability Progr 30 Jan 2010 (Forum)
A local towbar specialist will to the job for a third of the price, but he tells he will fit a relay to by-pass the car's CANBus and everything will be fine. Whom do I believe? I assume Citroën have actually gone to the trouble of recognising that a car behaves differently when towing a 5m trailer weighing a tonne plus, and if/when the driver has to brake hard or swerve, have worked out the safest way for the the car to respond, which will different from when without a trailer. -

Section 172 Road traffic act 24 Dec 2016 (Forum)
We have recieved a reply to say that it is the companies responsibilty to identify the driver at the time of the offence and failure to do so is an offence and subject to a fine of up to £1000 plus 6 penalty points. If we are still unable to provide the information the matter will be passed to police for further enquiry. Any advice? What can we do if we cannot identify who was driving? -
New Ford Fiesta 1000 Ecoboost - Gear lever vibration at around 2500revs 25 Oct 2015 (Forum)
My new Fiesta 1000 Ecoboost has significant vibration felt through the gear lever when engine is passing through 2500 revs. Also when the "change up arrow" advises a gear shift at 2000revs the engine seems to labour from 1300 to 1800 revs in 2nd 3rd and 4th gear. Above 2000 revs it's fine with good acceleration. -
Nissan Almera - Terrible headlights 19 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I have them pointed as high as possible, yet they only light a small distance in front of me. Aiming them lower makes them even worse. They passed the MOT in March, so it shouldn't be a defective reflector or anything like that. Plus, the lights on my mum's (newer model) Almera are just as bad. My bulbs are the normal old-fashioned headlight type (usually called bulb 472) - any suggestions how to make them better? -
Leaking rear shocks - MOT Failure? 5 Sep 2005 (Forum)
On the list of faults they provided, one was that both rear shock absorbers needed replacing. The service lad said they were both 'leaking'. They quoted £157 plus vat. I didn't get this done because I knew my MOT was coming up so thought I'd wait until the MOT confirmed it. It passed the MOT. I assumed that leaking rear shocks is an MOT fail - or am I wrong? -
Shock absorbers 19 Jun 2004 (Forum)
It's out of warranty already but they gave me a discount voucher for it! Anyway, they report a back shock absorber is starting to weep. It can't be too bad because it passed the MOT last month! They're quoting £49.95 plus vat and fitting. My questions for those learned backroomers with experience of this sort of thing are: 1. Is this a reasonable price? 2. Would someone like ATS Euromaster be cheaper?
