I have to buy a car for my job 23 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I will need to provide my own car, and expect to cover about 30K-35K per year. Can anyone advise me as to the best way to source and finance a reliable medium sized (eg Mondeo) car. I cannot afford to buy one for cash. Where is the best place to obtain independent advice? Any help welcome. -
Quick decision 28 Jun 2001 (Forum)
I ordered a Ford Ka Collection in State Blue Metallic from a local Ford dealer. The deal included 12 months insurance, 0% finance, and a CD player for £7325. The dealers phoned my wife this evening saying that they've failed to locate a Ka in State Blue Metallic but can locate a Ka Collection in Panther Black Metallic and with airconditioning at no extra cost. -

There'll be some changes made ? 21 Nov 2015 (Forum)
I think there used to be but perhaps it's fallen out of use. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/industry/11999303/Inquiry-into-not-fit-for-purpose-testing-system-after-VW-emissions-scandal.html -
Where have all the old bangers gone 26 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Has anyone else noticed that these days nearly all the cars are smart and seem to be lucky to see anything older than ten years old where as when i started driving in the mid nineties you would see cars with odd wings/ doors grey primer and oxide red paint around the wheel arches with thick black underseal along the sills i suppose the scrappage scheme killed a lot of and these days anyone seems to be able to get a car on finance -
N/A - Car Insurance 21 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Just read this article in the Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/insurance/motorinsurance/8272542/Motor-insurance-premiums-up-by-34pc.html What really annoyed me was the bit where it says that it's now possible that an uninsured driver may be fined as little as £50. -
Porsche and VW in the News - Merger/Takeover Talks 23 Jul 2009 (Forum)
The Porsche boss and his finance chief have both resigned with immediate effect after an all-night pow-wow. Big payoffs, and a merger/take-over by VW is surely to follow. It seems Porsche ran out of money to effect their own take-over of VW, any such take-over would have had significant Middle East money, so the powers that be in Germany are probably happier with owner-ship of both companies staying within the fatherland. -
Credit Crunch Takes its toll:Volume 10 [Read only] 16 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The banks must be having a laugh. In my local branch on saturday making sure I had cash in the account for my car finance payment - motoring link, and was asked, would you like to open a saving account with us? Now, seeing as how the bank in question was in the news as loosing a significant amount of cash to a glorified pyramid scheme in the states, do they really think the public are stupid enough to pass them their life savings in the same week? -
Caring for the Environment and leading by example 27 Nov 2008 (Forum)
As the government are trying to drive people out of gas guzzlers and 4x4s by way of punitive taxation, and trying to persuade us to buy zero emission shopping trollies, I find it rather odd that VOSA and "Traffic Officers" AKA Wombles are clocking up thousands of miles on motorways every year in the very same gas guzzling 4x4s, financed by you and me...the taxpayer. Can it be justified by the fact that it might snow once or twice a year or is it just another case of do as we say, not as we do? -

Space Grey 18" Alloys Leather Bluetooth Sports Seats Sports Suspension 13k miles £24,350 Have negotiated a finance deal @ 8% APR. Is it the right time to buy or would it be worth waiting to see if used car prices drop even further? Is that a fair price for this car? -

buying a vehicle still on lease purchase 9 Jul 2006 (Forum)
If you see a vehicle for sale and the owner tells you its still subject to a lease purchase agreement - is this vehicle still ok to buy if the owner tells you he's selling it then paying off the lease company with the proceeds which presumably happens a fair bit?. Obviously on doing an HPI on the vehicle it will show up as having finance against it?? What safeguard is there for a buyer in this situation? I'm thinking you can telephone the lease company (with the vehicle owners consent) to check out the story?? -
Safe to buy car still under HP 3 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Just worrying that if after buying the car from the seller, and then the seller decided not to keep up with the payment. The finance company may come and reclaim the car. Or is it best to avoid them? If most people buying cars which is under 3 yrs old, we all face with this problem. what do we do? Any thoughts on this? -
