• Hyundai Santa Fe Diesel Auto 2007 - Hyundai unlimited mileage warranty NOT unlimited? 23 Nov 2011 (Forum)
  At 72,000 miles the other side is failing and this time the dealer tells me that Hyundai have changed their terms and that this sort of "wear and tear" item is not covered after 60,000 miles. It will therefore cost me £350 to have it fixed. I bought the Hyundai partly on the basis of its unlimited mileage warranty so am pretty unhappy about this. I have the car serviced regularly by the dealer, at the specified mileages.
• Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2002 1.6 Speedo fault 3 Aug 2011 (Forum)
  Over the last few months, the speedo has started randomly drpping to 0mph whilst I'm driving along. At the same time, the lights and stereo also dim down. More recently, the car has started stuttering, almost misfiring, when this happens. If the speedo is at 0mph for a while the odometer also goes blank, leaving a display of "- - - - -". On the plus side, this means the miles covered whilst it is dead do not get added...

  I was hit yesterday by a couple in a focus. Although the owner of the car was insured, she was riding in the passenger seat. The driver, whom I thought was a named driver on the policy, turned out to be uninsured. Of corse by this point I had already given a statement to my insurance company, and the 3rd party contacted me and asked if I could cover up who was driving.

  My question is, is this something I should be concerned about? Is it likely to indicate some other problem with the car or could it have damaged something in the engine? It had just been serviced before collecting including getting some major interval items like filters changed. The engine was obviously covered in diesel but the dealer cleaned it up as part of the work.
• Panda 4x4 2008 model - Panda 4x4 brakes 23 May 2011 (Forum)
  At 19000 miles I was told that the rear brake discs and pads were completely worn out. Fiat says they are wear items so not covered by warranty. The Fiat dealer chief mechanic told me that this was not unusual and that the rears can wear out before the fronts. I got an independant Motor Assessors report, who concluded that it was caused by one or more faulty components.
• Nissan Qashqai - Knocking Sound from rear 29 Apr 2011 (Forum)
  The Nissan dealer did not fit the revised standard dampers so when the knocking sound returned (warn bushes by the way) they had to replace at their cost. The car was exported to Switzerland in March 2010 and has only covered 5K miles in the last 14 months. The knocking has returned again and the current dealer (Swiss) states that the lower mod standard had been fitted again.
• Renault Clio II 1.4 16v - How do you bleed the hydraulic tappets? 10 Mar 2011 (Forum)
  Hi, I'm in the middle of a de-coke of the Mrs's car. I've been told I need to bleed the hydraulic tappets once the head goes back on. Could anyone out there explain how to do this please? When I took off the cam cover, I discovered two of the head torx bolts had been rounded off some time in the past.

  Hi my wifes car has suddenly developed a noisey engine rattle. The engine is a 2.2 Turbo Diesel DOHC 16V (YD22DDTi) I think the noise is coming from the vacuum pump on the right hand side of the cyl. head. My Nissan Dealer has quoted me £615 for this pump alone, no joke!

  Please After selling car with 3 months ins to run,I`ve  withdrawn my DD`s online and monitor account daily to make sure broker hasn`t applied to reinstate them.Also cancelled existing debit card and ordered a replacement for that account.

  It was booked in for and economy remap today but before mapping adagnostic check unearthed 2 faults P0191 fuel rail pressure range/performance and p2288 injector control pressure to high. The garage inform me i need new injectors. My car runs like a dream with no signs of smoke or poor running. Any help or advice would be greatly recieved as the £900 price tag santa cant cover at this short notice. Thanx in advance M14ESP

  hiya new to this - OK here we go Received a summons for failing to produce the producer within the time limit. when i 1st bought the car it had a private REG on and when i got pulled over it had the normal REG on (all above board with DVLA) and all that but the insurance doc still had the private reg on. got the summons this weekend and phoned insurance again this morning and their sending me a letter out saying that i was covered on that date on the new reg in 3-5 days time.

  How do I update the satnav data (using an SD card), - and is up-to-date data expensive?? By the way, the user manual supplied does not cover the communications pack. Luckily, most of its functions are intuitive.

  Returning from holiday I followed up a 6 year old 330Ci which had been marooned at the bottom of an ice covered drive for several weeks. A fair price was offered, and duly accepted. Its a fair bit more refined than my previous Elise, and I shall be sad to say good bye to my current car which was bought to tide me over for 3 months some 27 months ago!

  Hello all, long time no speak :o) I'm not sure if this has come up before, but I have renewed my car insurance that expires at 23.59 tomorrow...yet the next policy doesn't start until 00.01 on Sunday. Presumably the only way to cover those 2 uninsured minutes would be to start the next policy a day early?

  To try to rectify this he has changed the oil to 15/40, reseated the copper sump washer and put in some additive to seal any internal leaks. Engine was idled for 15 minutes no problems. When the car was driven oil started to cover the engine and exhaust pipe somewhere near the starter. Bear in mind this is by all word of mouth as he is away at the moment. A garage suggested that it could be excessive crankcase pressure but they hadn't got time to look at it.

  In fact, it's a fascinating window on an industry about to commit suicide, floundering round for ideas too late (although there is a lovely Carl Vetter design based on the Rocket-3 that might have helped, if BSA hadn't ignored it). Good nostalgia trip, anyway, and a reminder about inflation - the cover price was 30p!

  Hi, I have a 53 reg Civic 1.6SE 3 door (October 03 registered), which has covered approximately 47k miles. It has always been serviced at a main dealer. Recently the SRS light on the dash came on. I tried resetting it through disconnecting the battery for a few hours, as I read on one website, but the light stayed on.

  This car isn't listed in the Chain -cam FAQ, I assume the above means it is? Does the "serpentine" belt need to be changed at a prescribed interval? Thanks.
