Ethical decisons when buying a car 6 Jun 2008 (Forum)
This reminded me of a old Coronation Street episode where Ken Barlow bought a VW Beetle and Albert Tatlock wouldn't get in it because it was 'Jerry' built. -
Spray & Shine - Car cleaning products. 22 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Where they often read out lots of viewers raving recommendations. I do not think I could bring myself to cleaning my car without water but maybe this is now considered an old fashioned attitude. Has anyone used this product and can endorse that it is as good as Ideal World make it out to be. Johno -
Disposing of a LHD car in the UK? 22 May 2007 (Forum)
A friend of mine is relocating from France back to the UK. He'll be getting a nice shiny new LR Discovery as a company car back in England. Problem is: how does he get shot of his 3yr-old left-hand drive French-registered Vectra GSi? It's worth more in France, but he hasn't got the time or patience or language-skills to try to sell it privately before he leaves France. -
Best source for a W124 7 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Hi, Quick question - have moved on from the idea of an older diesel as my next car, and contemplating a W124 (petrol) - fab build quality, should be effortless to tour around in, and cheap (well relatively, for a 10+ year old car) Owners clubs historically have a fantastically over-inflated view of what their cars are worth (observiation from PCGB), and the 'specialists' in the mark also believe that they are worth eye watering amounts. -

Servicing intervals for 323 ci coupe 25 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Hi All, Am going to look at some 323ci coupes this week. When I check the service history, can anyone tell me how how often in time and miles the car should have been serviced and which services they should be (out of inspection 1/2/oil)? The cars I am looking at are all about 5 years old with 40-45 k on the clock. Also, is there a recomended method for validating the milage as genuine on these cars? -
Discussion: Best & Worst Film Car Chases 8 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Thought it would be intersting to hear everyone's views on what is the best and worst car chase they have seen in a film. Best: Ronin - through the streets in Paris (I think) - both the actual camera work, the stunts and the length of the chase make this my favourite. Worst: Fled (Laurence Fisbourne & Stephen Baldwin) - two guys on Ducati 916's not being able to outrun a big old cadillac or something similar - not exactly realistic. -
Used Car Prices Cheaper up North? 10 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Question? If I purchase a 12 month old Merc 320 Avantgarde with 10k on the clock in Canterbury (Kent) for £32,000 from a main dealer what would the same car cost further North? Can I expect a lower start price due to the North / South cost diferentials ?? -
Portable SatNav 16 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I have a friend who\'s just got a summer job as an agency delivery driver (delivering cars to and from garages all over the country) He\'s seen other drivers at the agency using sat-nav systems that swap from car to car and plug in to the cig lighter, and is wanting to know what\'s available and where from I have no idea, so if anybody has any recommendations, please let me know ta I have to grow old - but I don\'t have to grow up -
GAP insurance - from when? 28 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I've seen previous threads on GAP insurance, but no strong opinions on whether it's advisable. However, my question is: must GAP insurance be taken out when the car is purchased? Most insurance companies do new-for-old for the first year for a new car, which seems to obviate the necessity for GAP insurance, so why not take it out after 12 months? The only person I've spoken with (VW salesman) insisted it had to be taken out at the time I bought the car. -

All New Cars - How many new cars are built to order? 23 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Hi All I am trying to find out how many of the approximate new cars sold each year of 2 million are build to customers orders at the factory or are sold from stock? The good old days with fields of new cars in stock seem to be well and truly over. -
Ford Ka, Fiat Bravo - Two car family - trade-offs 3 Jun 2011 (Forum)
For some reason there’s a dearth of old-style astras, which surprises me as I thought loads would be outed as the new model would make them relatively obsolete. I’d be more than happy with a 3 or 4 year old old-style astra, especially more economical ones. -
Seat Leon FR TDI - To replace or not? A diesel dilema 28 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I have been scared by stories of injector failure, here and elsewhere, in the 2.0 PD 170 engine which is in this car. My intention was to keep the car to 6 yrs old and replace in Sep 2012. As a family we run two cars, and pay for them over 3 yrs, the idea being we are only ever paying for one car at a time. However, the scares over injector failure and making me wonder whether I should change sooner. -
Pug 306 door panel repair options 15 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Purchased by us nearly two years ago with genuine 14k miles (we knew the previous 'owner from new'), now with 26.5k. A great B-road tool for me, as well as a 'get to work and shopping car' for the missus, totally reliable, and as mint as a 10 year old budget car ever will be: Always clean and polished inside out - including engine bay I will admit, where the engine, including alloy and plated parts, looks like it isn't even 10 months old, let alone 10 years - it gleams like a good'un. -
Dacia Duster - Is an engine flush beneficial? 18 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Due for first service in a few weeks and main dealer tried to get me to spend an extra £27 having the engine flushed as part of the oil change. Is this necessary on a one year old car, or just another money maker for the dealer? -
Ford Fiesta - How to get my radio code? 17 Jun 2019 (Forum)
