  • Review: Rush 4 Sep 2013 (News)
The race sequences themselves are spectacular and visceral, though they fall into the trap so typical of Hollywood driving movies, showing the drivers operating their cars so aggressively they’d likely damage them. Nonetheless the action is convincing, sounds glorious and is, at times, very graphic – the damage that can be done to drivers in such high speed incidents isn’t sugar coated.
  • Sir Stirling Moss stars at Shelsley Walsh 29 Jul 2013 (News)
'This Classic Nostalgia event produces some wonderful sights, sounds and magnificent machines from over the years and all in such a pretty setting amongst the wonderful Worcestershire hills, it is delightful to see the place in very good hands and going from strength to strength. 'I am thoroughly enjoying my visit but I am not trusted or allowed to drive anything up the hill as it is deemed far too dangerous for me!" he added with a wry smile. Sir Stirling also provided further opinions, recollections and humorous anecdotes about his illustrious career during a question and answer session in the courtyard, much to the delight of the assembled crowd.
  • Report: Peking to Paris, day 26 22 Jun 2013 (News)
John Layzell’s VW Beetle developed a pistol-cracking backfire on the over-run into corners and set 6:14, and John Rich was a surprise performer in the 4x4 Toyota Jeep, posting 6:17, a reward for a particularly neat driving effort. Richard White and Richard Scott were neat and tidy and did well to record a time in their Volvo Amazon of 5:59 after a steady run. Philippe Clamens had the vote for “best noise” in the V8 Mercedes Coupe, the V8 snaked around the course in 5:47.
  • Report: Peking to Paris, day 20 and 21 18 Jun 2013 (News)
However, while this might well have totally wrecked the engine – it needed immediate trucking on to Kiev, where we have one final day off on Thursday before the final haul to Paris – Bill is determined to try to seek another engine or spares for a rapid rebuild so he can drive the final section. As the old Ford side-valve drove under the inflatable arch of our start this morning, Peter Lovett - who enjoys the comforts and total reliability of his two-litre Porsche 911 - looked across at the racket Bill’s right foot was creating as he warmed up the oil of the Model A, playing tunes through the straight-through exhaust, and said, 'Now just look at that… doesn’t Bill perfectly sum up the spirit of this event?'
  • Report: Peking to Paris, day one 28 May 2013 (News)
So too did previous Classic category winner Gerry Crown and Matt Bryson, also from Australia, in their 1973 V8 Leyland P76. Many of the pre-war Vintageants looked particularly impressive, the drive of Mani Dubbs and Robi Huber in a 1932 Rockne Six 750 looked effortless as its suspension took command through the torture of giant crater-like potholes. Stay tuned for more updates, we'll keep you posted on a daily basis.
