  it was round to the scrapyard for a new old one. Needless to say, once the recycled motor was fitted, the engine started easily on the old battery this despite having been dumped outside for two weeks in a semi-discharged condition. I know the sensible thing would have been to retain the new battery, but there are greater emotions in play here than common sense!

  AA came and jumpstarted it. he checked the current drain from the battery when everything off, and registered it at 450mA, as opposed to skoda guide of 150mA. took car to skoda, told them. they said faulty cell in battery, replaced battery. with an electronics degree, i fail to see why a faulty cell in the battery would cause excess current to be drawn from the battery.

  Hi,     We own a 2009 Honda Crv EX 2.2 diesel car for a year now. A couple of months back we've noticed the car battery went dead twice on us so we decided to invest in a new one.   My alternator went yesterday after my battery warning and stop light had come on. ABS and power steering went just before I managed to get it in to a tyre/battery garage to have a battery test. They then diagnosed it as an alternator issue and helpfully drove me to the nearest garage who do actual car repairs.

  On average they are between five to eight years old.  With the slow  return to work about to begin-I wonder how many flat battery, locked brakes and non starting callouts there might be in the next few days? If none-then isn't it amazing how modern cars can be left static for such a long period without any basic care and maintenance?
