Hi , I bought a skoda octavia paid £1500 has 170k miles but full service history Been running fine 6 months but then we shorter trips in winter dpf blocked up It would not regenerate we long run so I decided to have dpf gutted out and mapped out Which I paid £250 for . All warning lights have gone off but cars seriously lacking power now I even have to put it in first gear to go up some hills it's terrible feels like it's in limp mode. -
Ford Focus Titanium Estate Td 109 (2008) - DPF Fault 7 Sep 2015 (Forum)
This week the engine malfunction warning light appeared with another reduction in power. Now the dealer says I need a new DPF & sensor. Might the DPF/sensor have been the problem all along & I didn't need a new turbo? Is this the type of problem that's difficult to accurately diagnose, or could all these different parts have become separately faulty in a short space of time, or might the garage not be doing a very good job? -
Vauxhall insignia - DPF 4 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Look whats written on the confirmation: *** Diesel Vehicles Only *** I am aware that a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is fitted to this vehicle, and agree to take the following actions. I understand that if the vehicle is used for numerous low mileage journeys with frequent stop/starts, the DPF may need to be regenerated. -
Vauxhall Zafira Tourer - DPF on Zafira tourer and S-Max 17 Feb 2014 (Forum)
There is a little voice in my head that keeps saying 'forget the diesel and DPF, go for a petrol'. Alan -
Volkswagen Touareg 2.5 Date 2009. - Diesel particulate Filter 8 Dec 2013 (Forum)
There is no apparent loss of performance or increase in fuel consumption. Local dealer has said it is the DPF and it needs replacing at £2500!! I am doubtful of the diagnosis because the DPF light has not come on, and the "engine block" warning came on after several hours at high motorway speeds when i would expect the DPF to clear itself not clog up, and the mileage is only 45000. -

Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - 1.6 HDi FAP/DPF reliability 22 May 2009 (Forum)
Local dealer has a nice 55 plate 1.6 hdi lx estate, 38k miles, salesman nice guy but not up to speed on the particulate filters. looking at the forum most problems seem with older models with 2.0 Hdi engine. Does the 1.6 have a FAP/DPF? Does it need the special additive replaced at big bucks, or is it self cleaning with no additive. The company I work for has a fleet of Focus's I think same engine no problems with them. I would prefer a petrol cause of the DPF issues, or is this model alright for this. -
Van - New van DPF dialema 7 May 2021 (Forum)
Does anyone have a new PSA small van and use it the majority of time around town, if so have you had DPF issues ? My dialema is not helped by the fact that Toyota has recently released its small Proace "City" van (which is diesel) and its obviously marketed for City driving. Do the DPF's in these vans do an auto regen when it needs to even when not driving over 50mph ?? -
Toyota Yaris - Toyota Yaris Diesel Mk2 2010 - DPF Regeneration 19 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Hi Posters; The car in the subject seems to perform the DPF regeneration process very frequently, i.e. at every 35 to 70 miles. The car has covered approx 50k miles with 80% at motorway speed. Because of the very frequent regeneration of the DPF, the fuel economy has been severly affected. -
List of cars which don't have DPF's fitted 7 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Lets try and avoid these awful devices. I'm guessing the 05 Ford Fiestas should be safe? -
Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 06 1.6HDI FAP DPF Removal Experiment 16 May 2010 (Forum)
My other hunch was that with the DPF removed, maybe the engine will gain a bit of performance with the massive blockage in the exhaust pipe taken out, the exhaust gases can flow a bit more freely. Only one way to find out, take the DPF out and see what happens. -
Astra Elite CDTi S/S 5 Door Diesel - Replacement Third Party DPF for Vauxhall Astra 10 Apr 2024 (Forum)
I currently own a 2013 Astra Elite CDTi S/S 5 Door Diesel which is having issues with the Diesel Particle Filter (DPF). I've had it cleaned a couple of times and this seems to help for about 4-5 months but then it has issues again (even though I'm driving it on the motorway a fair bit). I need it to last another 1-2 years until I can afford a better car so was considering getting a new DPF. -
Ford Focus Estate 1.6 TDCI - Will regen of DPF stop fumes in cabin? 24 Nov 2017 (Forum)
He came to the conclusion that the issue was caused by two things: the fact that the EGR valve was stuck open and the need for a DPF regen. The EGR valve has been changed and the fumes seem a little reduced - maybe. But there's still a kind of smoky, sooty smell getting in. Could that really be caused by a clogged DPF? When I asked the mechanic for an explanation of how those two things could cause 'nasties' to escape the engine and then get in via the vents he said in both cases that it was a matter of unburnt fuel, but didn't elaborate. -
Nissan Qashqai (2007 - ) - DPFs again 26 Sep 2008 (Forum)
How long can the industry sustain this nonsense? Is it still possible to buy a non-DPF diesel? I think I'll hang on to mine. -
Audi A3 - Diagnosing the problem turbo or dpf 6 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Anyone any experience with this? If an exhaust is badly fitted or if it has a blocked dpf, can it cause a rapid failure of a turbo? Trying to figure out if I need to replace a turbo or an exhaust. When the engine is started white smoke pours out of the exhaust and some bluey tinted smoke slowly rises from around the turbo. -
Volvo V40 - Potential DPF Issues? 19 May 2015 (Forum)
My use going forward will be 12k plus pa with a good mix of short and long journeys. Is there anything I should look out for and could this low usage have started potential DPF issues? Any advice on this would be appreciated - thanks -
ibiza ecomotive 1.4 - DOES IT HAVE A DPF? 6 Sep 2014 (Forum)
I'm looking at buying a 2008 old shape 1.4 ibiza ecomotive with 35K on it. I cant find if it has a dpf fitted before I travel to view the car. The showroom admitted it was in the garage for an engine light but declined to say which one it was... They are rare so I dont want to miss out, but I also do lots of short journeys so I'm concerned maybe its not the one for me. -

Ford Focus TDCI 2006 - Misdiagnosis ? 10 Aug 2018 (Forum)
Friends car was taken to the dealers in limp mode. And was diagnosed with a blocked DPF. Cost to repair £800 Surely a car as early as this won't have a DPF? -
