Annual European Breakdown Cover 29 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I have just renewed my annual European Breakdown cover with WorldWide Travel Insurance Services Ltd. , but it's a Green Flag Policy - yes, good old Green Flag and I couldn't find anything wrong with it at £69 - bargain.. £69 is the cost for a whole year (max 45 days any one trip) for a car less than 10 years old. -
Over insured - do I need to buy legal cover twice? 12 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Hi All, I have an every day car - the comprehensive insurance policy has legal protection on it for about £18 extra. I also have a classic car policy for my second car which also has legal protection on it and the whole policy is due for renewal. -
New Car - Tax Conundrum 10 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Ordered a new car via broker. Car is at dealership awaiting my cover note so they can tax and deliver it. The insurance company sent the cover note to the broker in my name but showing the brokers address. The broker says that when the dealership goes to the post office to get tax and do the first reg' document, it will be rejected as the address shown on the cover note, i.e. -
Covering my excess lowered my insurance! 27 Feb 2016 (Forum)
As a youngish driver i struggled to get a cheap quote on my car insurance, i searched and searched but still the lowest price i managed to get was still too much. This kept going on until my older firends just out of the blue said 'why dont you cover your voluntary excess?' -
Breakdown cover 20 Mar 2020 (Forum)
This has been discussed many times before but I thought it was worth a post to see if anyone had any advice or words of wisdom. It’s renewal time for my breakdown cover, which is for the Logan and the MX5. I’ve been with Autoaid for the last few years, but the renewal price has gone up from £43.31 to £59.99, which seems a bit of a hike. My car insurance are offering RAC cover for a supposed reduced rate of £109! -
Banking on breakdown cover 18 Aug 2008 (Forum)
interesting and salutory experience of a driver in one of the weekend papers' Money sections... She had breakdown cover (Green Flag's roadside assistance) "free" as part of paying for a "premium" bank acct. On way home from Wiltshire to home in Wales car died, stranding her on on M4 hard shoulder. She phoned Green Flag, told 'em she was 23 miles from the Severn Bridge on English side. -
Car insurance for learner drivers 23 Feb 2015 (Forum)
For the first option the choices are generally between Quinn Direct and Admiral (with telematics), with the prices swapping between them depending upon the model. The most expensive for the cars I am looking at is about £1,100 and the cheapest is £700. Not bad I think. For the second option, the basic cover for SWMBO and me is about £400 plus I need to find the provisional drivers cover, but a couple of companies will not cover the Seat Toledo/Skoda Rapid twins but will cover the comparable Ibiza/Fabias. -
Hire Car Excess Insurance for old Vehicle 19 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Hi, I hope someone really can help me with this. I am hiring a beautiful 1960's VW Camper van to go over the Isle of Wight in. Only thing is the excess... -
Warranty Ford 17 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Hey What do you think of this. I have a two year old car from Ford with a 3 year exteneded warranty which my warranty guide (issued 2003) says is simply an extension of the original one year. I have a problem which is covered by this. Ford say they will not cover it as their warranty changed to limit cover in 2004. -
Filling up 21 Jun 2004 (Forum)
When I fill up, I unlock the petrol cap cover and leave the keys in the cover until I've finished. It occurred to me the other day that as I have my hands full when filling up ~ filler cap in left hand and pump nozzle in right hand ~ I am giving any nearby lowlife the chance to pinch my car keys. -
Covered number plates and parking 20 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Plus presumably bikes can be towed away the same as cars so if the attendants can not determine the plate number would they not just call for a tow? -

What are the naffest features on modern cars? 25 Mar 2010 (Forum)
We look back on things like vinyl roofs and matt-black bonnets as car fads that appear highly un-cool now. I was wondering what things that are fashionable on present-day cars will be laughed at in the future. The thing that comes to mind for me are engine covers that look like dummy engines, with stylised manifolds - are they intake or exhaust - who knows? -
VW Sharan TDi - Extended warranty recommendations 4 Aug 2017 (Forum)
The only one I looked at is VWs own and to be honest it looks good to me covering everything other than a list of named exclusions but the main thing is it covers what I see as the high risk items DSG, turbo, injectors, fuel pump, EGR, SRC / AdBlue system, catalyst but only covers the DPF for internal failure but not from getting blocked, all the sensors are covered. -
how much is customer protect gold cover 11 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Bought a car recently. the dealer charged me 990 pounds for 2 year customer protect gold cover warranty. but in the document they give me(a schedule with a reference), it says the premium is 0. and they did not show me any price list of the warrenty. so I have no idea how much exactly I should pay or paid to customer protect. -
Breakdown cover - what's best ? 23 May 2003 (Forum)
I've just received my AA renewal - £84 for Roadside, Relay and complimentary Home Start ('cos I never call 'em out I guess). Anyway, I like the idea of being covered (as opposed to the car) but could I do better elsewhere ? Don't want to join a cheap cowboy outfit so has anyone got any suggestions and experiences to relate on this topic ? Thanks in anticipation all ! -
Volkswagen Polo IV (2005 - 2009) - Engine Cover - You know - the 'don't tinker' one. 11 Aug 2009 (Forum)
All, especially the VW owners and lovers amongst us, one my colleagues has recently had his car returned from a dealer following a replacement cylinder head gasket along with some other top end ancillaries. Unfortunately, he didn't look under the bonnet on receipt and on return home when he eventually did, he discovered that the black plastic cover which covers the top of the engine was missing. -
Suzuki - New AA Warranty Catastrophe Cover: is it worth it? 8 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I drive a Suzuki Ignis 2004-plate (out of warranty), have done 20,000 mls from new, and I am considering taking up the new (from September 2007) AA Catastrophe Cover from AA Warranty to cover major mechanical failures (excess £300) after reading in a car mag that 29% of repair bills exceed £3,000 (according to AA Warranty), which scared me a little! It costs approx. £9/month. -
Breakdown service recommendations? 28 Feb 2006 (Forum)
This is not the first time I've been stuffed on renewal after a good initial rate. Can any backroomers recommend a basic (or better) cover at a more sensible price? It would preferably be car-based rather than personal, covering any driver, as my other two cars already have car-based cover. -
Volkswagen Golf - Just had car accident, feeling being scammed 23 Nov 2022 (Forum)
The white cover is clearly still there. Later, when he got out of the car to check his car with me, I found that his left rearview mirror also had no cover. I felt that his right rearview mirror was originally broken with cover removable, and then he used this opportunity to ask me to replace it with a new one.
