Sturdy, comfortable and totally reliable.
After having had company cars of various marques for 30+years, my last car, when I retired as part of my "deal" had to be good, so I chose VW, for style, reliability, build quality and retained value. Six years later, my choice has been fully justified, other than normal servicing costs, two new tyres and a timing belt it has not cost me a penny.
When I am a passenger in comparable cars the difference in build quality is very noticeable, the "clunk" of the doors, the interior fittings, instruments and paint quality are all inferior. When I eventually decide to look for a replacement, the VW / Audi dealership will be my first port of call.
